Very nice restaurant with good food. However, me and my partner we're let down by the customer service.
My strawberry daquari (a frozen fruit beverage) was knocked over me when our mains were brought to us. Accidents happen. I was polite about the incident and didn't create a scene. However, I was wearing a white linen shirt and black linen trousers, which were covered by the drink. I had to sit through the meal with wet clothes and a ruined shirt (cost me £55).
To my surprise, when the bill came, I was charged full price for the meal. I took offence to this. I challenged the head staff about the bill and the response was "it was an accident. You can't expect to eat for free. There's dry cleaners next door". Begrudgingly, after back and forth, the only consolation was that the drink split and the drink replaced were not added to the bill. The head of staff even suggested that he was doing me a favour by not charging me for the drink that was knocked over me.. as if this wouldn't be expected when a drink is split on a customer?!
Overall, my experience was distasteful. It was disrespectful. There was no consideration to the fact that my shirt was ruined and my outfit was soaked. To have the audacity to charge 1030 baht and use two drinks as discount is not a fair reflection of a poor dining experience, or replace my shirt, which cost 2550 baht.
There are better places to eat on the island. Places whereby you don't pay for others' mistakes and abysmal customer service. Locco's only seems to care about business, not their customers. Hope this...
Read moreDiscovered this not so hidden gem looking for a late night snack one night. I never usually trust Pizza & Pasta while in a foreign country, it's not like you're going to find an Italian in the back making your dish. I was surprisingly wrong. While this "Beachhouse Meets Cute Date Night" venue is a little more on the expensive side for eateries you'll find in Thailand, it was well worth the extra Baht. The service staff was very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu items.
I had the Tuna Carpaccio to start. I've had some ups and downs with Tuna while in Thailand, ranging from Canned Tuna to high quality Yellowfin. This dish did not disappoint on freshness and quality, a vibrant pink and rich flavour. I was left a bit longing for some more texture complexity though. Overall a great starter and a large portion.
The real treasure here was the hand made Italian pasta, something I thought I would never see on my travels through this country. I dove head first into the Gnocchi Boscalola. Now the owner might put a bounty on my head for this, but the creamy mushroom sauce brought me straight to the rich & buttery heaven of french cooking. Paired with what I believe was a mild Thai sausage, the fluffy handmade Gnocci and a nice glass of red, if I wasn't next to a coconut tree, I could have easily been in the busy city of Rome.
All in all, I spent 800 bath with 2 drinks for myself.
You can always tell when someone is passionate about their craft. This is one spot you do not want to miss. See you next...
Read moreWe arrived to have a pizza here, placed our order with our waiter and as we placed our order we pulled out my water bottle which we were told we are not allowed to have our own water in the restaurant so we kindly said to our waiter “okay, could you please just cancel our order?” Because he had not even left our table yet from us placing our order with him. He said yes and we just stood up and exited the restaurant. The owner of the restaurant followed us out of the restaurant, down the street, and to our bike and stood behind the bike blocking our way of leaving scolding us about how we are such rude people to leave the restaurant & that “it may be okay to do in your country, but he does not allow it in his country or restaurant.”
We did not renter the restaurant upon the owner’s request, nor pay for the meal we did not eat.
There is also not a menu posted anywhere online so we could not see the exorbitant prices of every item on the menu before arriving. We just wanted an affordable pizza which we...
