Stopped in here on a Saturday evening around 7pm after a long day of driving and sightseeing.
The staff: Surprisingly rude and indifferent. When we arrived there was nobody to greet us. After a few minutes someone did appear and seat us at a table near the patio. It took 15 minutes of sitting to get their attention so we could order anything (literally had to wave). When we did order, they got it wrong on several fronts. We ordered two drinks (one for each person) and oh one drink was brought, and they also served a dish with shrimp instead of squid. I specifically pointed to the squid on the menu and the server repeated it, wrote it down, and still got it wrong. They brought the food spaced 10 minutes apart (one dish for this person, one dish for another person) and failed to bring our last dish (an appetizer) for a long time after we finished eating our main dishes. We felt ignored whole other people were served.
The food: Panang curry was tasty, but half the amount served anywhere else in Thailand. Sweet stir fry was tasty, but nothing special and they switched squid and did shrimp instead. Also very small portion. Seafood "platter" was 2 shrimp, a small bit of squid, and a whole lot of bland fries. The tartar sauce was so small it ran out and the "sweet and sour sauce" never made an appearance. We just had bland food. The cocktails were good, but we had to ask multiple times to get one for each of us. Overall just average food, discount American takeout level of flavor.
Summary: Between the abysmal service, average food, mosquitoes, overly expensive prices (30-40% more than most places), and small portions, this place brought our moods down. We felt like we were bothering the staff to get their attention when dishes or drinks were forgotten.

Read moreWell cooked Thai food but unpredictable service which could ruin your evening.
The restaurant had a nice decor, open balcony and inviting. The food were tasty and on par with the other thai restaurants which I had been in Khao Sok.
However, I reflect some of the fellow reviewers' comments that the lady waitress had a bit of attitude problem and was deliberately out of her way being difficult with our table. I observed how she treated other patrons and some tables are getting better treatment than others.
My honest feeling is that Pawn restaurant is ranked high on Trip Advisor and gets consistent clientele to visit them. Hence they sacrifice some aspects of customer service. It's my 4th night here in Khao Sok and I have tried other restaurants with food as good as them but a much better service.
It's a hit and miss with Pawn. I do hope you get a much better experience than I did. I will not go back there again myself though as I I could better food...
Read moreSummary: grumpy staff, long waiting times, small portions with relatively high prices, average food quality (rather salty)
The first thing I noticed was the quite unfriendly staff at this place. We haven’t been welcomed and it took quite some time until they noticed us. As some of the dishes weren’t available tonight, we needed some time to rethink our options (should have left at that point). We literally had to wave at them to get their attention, when we were ready to order.
The food was ok, although my curry was really salty. Altogether the portions were really small (we’re actually looking for another place for dessert now) and the prices are way above average in this village. Just for reference: a small sized Pad Thai costs 100 Baht, just yesterday we had a Pad Thai for 80 Baht that was Double the size and super delicious.
All in all I would not recommend that place if you want value for your money, especially if...
