Sirtaki Taverna — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

We had high expectations based on the reviews here but were disappointed unfortunately. We had the saganaki and the pita bread for starters. The pita bread is quite flat and not fluffy how it should be. The saganki was ok but so overpriced. For mains we had the mixed grill plate and the octopus. The mixed grill plate is not authentic. The lamb chop was not available so I got a lamp souvlaki which was so chewy, I couldn’t eat it. The pork belly was nice bit just have a piece, the other souvlakis were ok but not seasoned as you would expect it in a green restaurant. The cabbage salad was not seasoned (the host said that some people like it more, some less seasoned so you can season it yourself with oil/vinegar - for me that’s just laziness). The sausage was a Thai sausage and has absolutely nothing to do with Greek food. I The potatoes were ok. The tzatziki was actually fantastic. The octopus was ok but missed seasoning and came with no side - ridiculous, considering the price. The juices - which are freshly made with the fruits everywhere on the island - come from the bottle?! Pure laziness in my opinion. Overall the food is so pricy compared to any other restaurant we went to on the island and the food is average at best. I understand that COVID had a bad effect on hospitality but doubling the prices within two years is absolutely not ok. What a cute little Greek restaurant run by Greek chef’s gorgeous Russian wife Nadia - lovey outdoor seating in the garden. We made mistakenly booking inside for the kids. Hit stuffy and lacking ambience inside. Outdoors much much nicer.

Absolutely HUGE portions even for a group of 4 adults and 4 kids!! We scoffed our dinner so quickly that I couldn’t get many photos of the gorgeous platters including BBQ octopus so soft and yummy, octopus salad lightly vinegary with plenty of lettuce tomatoes and potatoes, grilled feta salad, lamb chops, chargrilled stuffed Aubergine was delicious for vegetarians (one enough to share for two!!), mousaka was good but not the best we’ve had, sausages were tasty but too spicy for kids, so much fresh imported Greek feta on everything (note vegans!) would definitely go back and recommend.

Such reasonable prices...
