Review for The Cocoon - Samui Viewpoint
I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Cocoon - Samui Viewpoint at Koh Samui and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The restaurant offers a stunning location with breathtaking panoramic views of the island, which made for a perfect backdrop during my meal. The atmosphere is serene and welcoming, providing an ideal spot for a relaxing lunch or a romantic dinner.
Food Quality: The food was exceptional, with a wide variety of dishes that catered to different tastes. Each dish was beautifully presented, and the flavors were both fresh and vibrant. I particularly enjoyed the seafood options, which were cooked to perfection. The menu also had several vegetarian options, which was a pleasant surprise.
Service: The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that every aspect of my dining experience was enjoyable. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations. Their hospitality truly stood out and added a personal touch to the experience.
Location and View: As the name suggests, the viewpoint offers a spectacular view of Koh Samui. Whether you visit during the day to enjoy the lush greenery and the ocean or at sunset to see the sky ablaze with colors, the setting is simply unforgettable. The open-air seating enhances the experience, allowing you to fully take in the natural beauty.
Pricing: While the prices are on the higher side, I felt they were justified given the quality of the food, the stunning views, and the overall ambiance of the restaurant. It’s a great place for a special occasion or to treat yourself to something memorable.
Highlights: The highlight of my visit was the combination of the stunning view and the exquisite food. The sunset view was a magical experience and the service was impeccable. I would highly recommend The Cocoon - Samui Viewpoint to anyone visiting Koh Samui.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I look forward to...
Read moreGuys, honestly I was thinking if I should write this review or not but I have to do it. We have spent almost 2 weeks in Thailand now and visited many places and this was the worst food/price place that we experienced.
The view- you have to get “lucky” to be seated in an area where you can actually see something, we came for sunset and were seated somewhere in the back so we almost left but then they magically said they can make a table for us after they saw we dont wanna order anything and leave. We should have left when we got that bad table.
View from the table facing sunset is nice but you can take the same picture from the road infront and not pay ridiculous money for it. Prices are so high that Four Seasons is cheap compared to this. Lets not mention automatic 10% service charge.
Food comes cold, portions are small. Drinks are expensive as well, beer was kinda warm like it was sitting somewhere for a while. One of the meals was supposed to be a seafood soup but it was more like a cheese sauce with salmon more than a soup. We used it as a sauce for our pasta because pasta was dry with almost no sauce.
We said we wanna at least take off the drinks of our checks cause we weren’t satisfied with our food and had to reheat it and they offered us a glass of prossecco as sorry but wouldn’t remove drinks. I understand, they wanna make sure that the bill is as high as possible. We haven’t even finished prossecco cause we felt like we got robbed and had a bad meal for such ridiculous money so the drink didn’t really make it better.
I understand why they have so many 5* reviews cause they offer a free drink for a review as you can see on my picture.
I am a big traveler and would wanna read something like this before visiting and making sure that I know what I am getting...
Read moreWe visited Cocoon for my wife’s birthday, hoping for a really special meal to cap off our holiday. First impressions were good — the setting is beautiful, the staff greeted us warmly, and our waiter was attentive and helpful with the menu.
Unfortunately, things went downhill quickly. The cocktails were the first letdown. The first ones we ordered were disappointing, so we tried again, but struggled to find anything that actually suited our tastes. My wife settled for a drink she wouldn’t normally choose simply because there weren’t many appealing options left. I asked the bartender if he could make something simple and classic — an Old Fashioned — but he flatly refused, saying if it’s not on the menu, he wouldn’t make it. There was no explanation about missing ingredients, just a dismissive “no,” which felt incredibly unprofessional, especially at a place marketing itself as high-end.
The food itself was fine, but nothing memorable, and certainly not worth the price. Even with the discount they gave us to apologize, it was still the most expensive meal we had on the island — and sadly, the worst. The view was nice, but not enough to justify the hype or the cost.
On top of that, the toilets were a real disappointment: outside the main building, dirty, and clearly neglected. For a restaurant that positions itself as a premium experience, this was shocking.
Overall, the service from the waiters was good, but the bartender’s attitude, the underwhelming food, and the poor facilities made this the most disappointing dining experience of our trip. There are far better places to eat in Koh Samui that deliver on both quality and value — Cocoon is all about the view, and...
