Baan Khun Chay Amphor Betong — Restaurant in Yala Province

Dinner time already and we were looking for a memorable dining experience, a restaurant that won’t cut short our fun with stomach bugs while in Betong. We met a local Thai friend who also happened to own a resort hotel in Betong & he recommended us this restaurant called “Baan Khun Chai Thai Restaurant “. Our first impression was very positive of this brightly lighted, wide open space restaurant and a clean looking place. Most Betong eating places have food servers that communicate Chinese language, Cantonese mostly and the Mandarin. English language is very very few. You can see from the attached pictures of the food we ordered, every dish never disappoint us with the exception of “Gaeng som pla “, the yellow spicy soup with fish. It was very super spicy and it was overall delicious but 1 points behind other Betong thai restaurants. If you plan to order this dish either here or any other thai restaurant, do let them know “mai kuay ped mak na krap”.... not too spicy. Price wise it is a reasonable place to dine in. Service was great. We had a pleasant experience until we requested to meet the owner/cook and had a group photo taken. Next time when you are in Betong, do pop in and have your personal experience dining...

31-5-2025 We came to this restaurant after 7 months and ordered some of our favourite dishes. Unfortunately, some of the ingredients are missing and 2 of the dishes came late after we finished our dinner.. Overall, the foods are still good

10-03-2023 Fifth visit to this restaurant with a group of friends from Seremban town. We ordered six dishes, my friends were very happy with all the dishes as the food was delicious. This is one restaurant that never disappointed me. The service was good and the food came very fast.

Finally, we had the best dinner and also the best foods for our entire 3 days 2 nights trip here. I’m sure the cook is a Michelin stars awarded. Never regret, very delicious…..more like Chinese cuisine than Thai. Portion is so big and very cheap, not reasonable but really cheap.There are what we ordered on that day for 4 pax? Steamed siakap recommended by them, stir-fried fern veggies, deep-fried tofu spicy and boneless marinated fried chicken included 1 big bottle of sugarcane and 1 big pot of hot Chinese tea, 4 plates of rice and a free compliment plate of fresh watermelon only costs Bht$ 600++ Becareful when you order their beverage, it comes with 1 litre bottle and not a glass or cup?
