I came here expecting the best restaurant in Tunis to act like it. Instead, I was met with confusion and carelessness from start to finish.

I arrived without a reservation and was seated in what looked like a small dining area — tables were unset, no atmosphere, but nobody said a word. I assumed it was part of the restaurant. After fifteen minutes of sitting there with no menu, no drink, and no explanation, I finally demanded a menu. Still nothing, until I stopped another waiter myself — while the host kept walking past, making eye contact, and saying nothing.

Only when someone came to pick me up and bring me to another table did I realise I had been sitting in a waiting area. Nobody had told me. If this was intentional, it was a strange and unwelcoming way to start a meal (no drinks offered for example).

Once seated properly, things improved somewhat. The food was good, the kitchen clearly capable. My steak was tasty but unevenly cooked — too rare on one side, too well-done on the other. I had ordered fries, but it arrived with potato mash instead. Not the end of the world, but at this level, it shouldn’t happen.

As for the red wine, the glass I first tried wasn’t bad — just a cheap option with no alternative by the glass. For the special occasion, I ordered a bottle instead. The waiter brought a completely different wine than what I ordered, assuring me it was the same. It tasted fine, so I let it go — until I checked online during the meal and saw it was a totally different (and cheaper) wine.

When I pointed it out, the waiter shrugged. At payment, I showed him both labels on my phone; he silently took the bottle away, came back, and dropped it back on the table without a word. No apology, no explanation. I was offered to take the rest of the bottle home, which was polite at least, but the entire interaction felt careless and dismissive.

For a place considered one of Tunis’ finest, the lack of communication, attention, and honesty is deeply disappointing. With proper service, this could be a great restaurant — but right now, it...

One day while visiting Tunisia for medical reasons, I've decided to look up on the Internet for a place that serves seafood. Keep in mind that my mom and dad are with me in Tunisia, so I wanted them to have a nice experience. We arrived to the restaurant on a Sunday at peak hours. The place was full, it seemed as if it was the only place that had seafood on their menu that day. None the less, the look of things was promising. A full place with a lot (I mean a lot) of waitresses! Sat down, had our orders taken, and felt great until that point. Now mind you me and my dad had the same meal ordered, sea food spaghetti. My mom ordered fish fillet. And the waiting started, and it went on and on. At first I was not concerned, but after seeing people walking into the place after us, oreder and get their meals before us! I was really confused. Not to mention that our waitress was inattentive to us in more than one occasion. I literally had to raise and wave my hand while calling him out loud, something that other clients didn't have to do to get his attention. Finally the food arrives, my dad couldn't hold it anymore. He started laughing, I did too while my mom was in shock. "An hour of waiting for a grilled fish fillet!? Okay" she said out loud. The funny part the food wasn't even cooked well. Our spaghetti was so uncooked it was really hard to chew. The three of us left our plates with about two thirds of the meal still in them. Asked for the bill (which was unbelievable high for a an experience like this), paid it and got out of there in...

Where to start, we were planning to visit Le Golfe for a long time. The moment we entered we knew this place has a history, we were seated and got to check the menu. The seats were comfy, we got an explaination of the restaurant, it seemed to be italian/mediterranean with a Tunisian touch 🇹🇳. Well, while didn't have any drinks except water, we had an amazing affogato, the ice cream was made with real vanilla beans which is a plus. I ordered a lobster pasta (fell) which was awesome, being a lobster fan I enjoyed every bite of it, it was umami. I also enjoyed half of the lobster with melted butter. I also liked their "aigre douce" sauce which we accompanied with some fried shrimp and octopus. We also got raw octopus which was a delight, was also my first time eating something raw and not be scared. Well with that said, I really got a taste of my friend steak which was amazing, good steak, medium rare, we didnt get a tomahawk but it was a good cut with mashed potatoes, the potatoes and gravy were a good match. What else to say, the server was understanding what we really wanted and adressed my question "what do you think we order that will make us come back" politely. This restaurant should be a patrimoine in Tunisia, well managed, servers are highly qualified and they know what they are doing. Also, wait time is worth the time, appetizers come fast thrn they bring main dish followed by desert, no one likes dumping everything at a time. I will come back for sure 😃. Thank you for this awesome...

I recently visited le golfe restaurant and had a mixed experience. The atmosphere and décor were truly fantastic—very relaxing and stylish, creating the perfect ambiance for a day out. The food was delicious and definitely worth the visit, with flavors that were both satisfying and memorable. However, the experience was somewhat overshadowed by the service. The gentleman at the front desk seemed unwelcoming and unprofessional—he didn’t greet us with a smile and, honestly, came across more like a security guard than a receptionist. This was a bit off-putting, especially considering the otherwise pleasant setting. Additionally, when we tried to order, we were told that only a limited number of dishes were available, which was surprising for a restaurant of this caliber. It would have been nice if more items were on the menu. Another downside was the language barrier. The entire staff spoke only French, and neither an English menu nor Arabic options were available, which made it quite difficult for us to fully enjoy the experience. As a tourist destination, offering multilingual service would go a long way in improving accessibility for non-French speakers. Overall, the food and atmosphere were excellent, but the service could definitely use improvement, especially in terms of friendliness and language options. Food: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Service: 3

A pity, the restaurant has so much potential but unfortunately doesn’t live to the expectations. Wouldn’t recommend. The place looks very nice, very well located and the decor is really pretty. From there it all goes downhill. We sat in a corner, the service in the first place was okay.. a lot of waiters running around and we didn’t even know who was taking care of our table. We had the fried calamari, pulpo octopus and the Aubergine salad. Food is good (calamari was really great and fresh) the rest was decent. Then one waiter came and removed all our covers. We thought they were changing them before the main meal… but we waited 1h20minutes for another waiter to instead of serving us the main dish, removed the olive oil bottle, and asked if everything was fine. We told him no, he smiled made a good sign with his finger and went away. We tried to catch any waiter‘s attention to get any info on the rest of our meal.. no one even looked at us. I had to go to the front desk to complain for us to get our meal with a sorry. (Too bad our experience was completely ruined) For a restaurant who claims to serve gastronomy .. it’s far far far from the standards.
