La Salle à Manger was a restaurant I had high hopes for, given its charming ambiance and appealing menu. However, my recent visit left a lot to be desired, primarily due to the disappointing service we received.
Our evening started off well with prompt seating and an initially attentive and welcoming hostess that kindly offered us a tour of the different spaces. Yet, as the meal progressed, the service deteriorated markedly. First, the waiter didn't get the full order. Then, the most striking issue occurred when I attempted to order dessert. As I was speaking, our waiter abruptly walked away mid-sentence, attending to another table without any excuse or acknowledgement. This was not only rude but also diminished our dining experience significantly. The guests with me as well as customers at neighbouring tables were shocked by such a behaviour.
Though the rest of the staff repeatedly apologized for our waiter's behavior, acknowledging the disruption wasn't enough. No tangible resolutions like a discount or complimentary service were offered to make up for the inconvenience. This lack of consideration for customer satisfaction was surprising and not something I expect from a restaurant that prides itself on a quality dining experience.
Furthermore, the non-smoking area, where we were seated, was exceptionally noisy, making it difficult to enjoy our conversation without raising our voices.
Overall, La Salle à Manger did not live up to the expectations set by its reputation. The food was satisfactory, but good cuisine cannot compensate for poor service. It’s unlikely I’ll return or recommend this restaurant unless there are improvements in customer service training and...
Read moreI departed from this restaurant with a profound sense of disappointment. The overall experience was marked by a lamentable and unprofessional level of service. My sympathy extends to both the owner and the chef, who undoubtedly put effort into the meal. However, it's crucial to recognize that a dining experience commences the moment one walks through the door and concludes as they exit.
Regrettably, there was no warm welcome or farewell, and the absence of basic pleasantries was striking. The server's behavior teetered on the edge of extreme rudeness, culminating in an unforgettable dining ordeal. Sharing a wine bucket among multiple tables was a glaring oversight. Requesting water on three separate occasions was a disheartening occurrence.
What stood out was the server's indifference when presenting the wine list. It was a stark example of discourtesy. To add to the disarray, my side dish arrived after I had already completed my main course, and no acknowledgment or apology was extended when I informed them it was no longer needed.
It is truly unfortunate that this restaurant fell significantly short of expectations tonight, leaving me with a regrettable and memorable...
Read moreI am from France and the French food of this restaurant is actually better than in many places in France, so, good job to the team. We were there with a group of colleagues and everyone enjoyed they dishes. The starters were all huge! The mains and dessert were more standard, but everything was delicious. I had the burrata with pistachio, mild but nice, the beef of the day was very tasty, and the lemon meringue pie for dessert was very tasty !
The main issue is that you have to cross a smoking area in order to reach the non smoking area... Luckily the smell of the smokers didn't reach our area, but not sure if I would risk eating there again because of the lack of insulation of the two areas (disgusting smoking area and...
