MARTI RESTAURANT — Restaurant in Çankaya

This place is unbelievable! Be sure to make a reservation for evening meals because it is popular -for a reason. İ arrived alone but without a reservation on a Friday night in early December. The place was packed. At first they said they had no table available, but then asked me to wait 5 minutes and magically came up with one. İ ordered the lamb steak and 2 mezes - a to-die-for chilled eggplant/yogurt/tomato dish and a wonderful fried pumpkin with veggies dish with yogurt on the side. The pumpkin was very lightly spiced with cinnamon and cardamom (I'm guessing). İt was not sweet but was delicious enough be a dessert. İ promised to write a well -deserved excellent review, and then, when İ asked what they had for dessert, they offered it no charge. İ have a gluten sensitivity, so İ ordered the pumpkin with tahini (no walnuts, another allergy) and they brought it to order along with a plate of seasonal fruit (tangerine, orange, apple, and ayva). İ have to admit that more than once İ closed my eyes to savor the tastes of my meal. To my chagrin, İ calculated the tip too quickly and only gave them 15%, but they deserved much more!! We had a wonderful experience at Marti Restaurant in Ankara! Although the owner didn’t speak English, he kindly asked a regular customer to help translate and recommend dishes for us. Thanks to their help, we ordered delicious and authentic food at very reasonable prices. We were truly satisfied and happy with our meal. To our surprise, when we were about to pay, the owner brought us a complimentary plate of fresh fruit and dessert. Such a generous and heartfelt gesture made us feel so welcomed as foreign visitors. Highly recommend this place for a relaxed and absolutely delicious meal in Ankara.

The waiting staff were so kind and friendly, and brought out a platter of mêze starters for us to pick from. Everything we chose was really tasty and fresh, and he recommended a wonderful salad to go alongside it. We then had seafood for main course which was really nice too. We then were surprised with a free dessert!
