Simit Sarayı Mecidiyeköy 1 — Restaurant in Şişli

My first visit to a Simit Sarayi - another popular franchise similar Hafiz Mustafa & MADO. It's the equivalent of a Greggs in the UK with a lot of pastries, hot drinks and considerably more. They had great cheese pastries with an abundance of chocolate and they also served ice cream. They seemed to specialise in Coffee hence the Café feel and vibe to the people dining in and outside of the establishment. Unfortunately, as per the previous reviews, the behaviour of the staff and I believe the manager of the store was unusually strange. I've only had a handful of these experiences and there was clear resentment and unusual amount of suspicion. It is as though, they're not use to tourists in Istanbul. We order chicken doner (Yarim Ekmek) half a Turkish bread which is enough (each one 80tl), if you are not hungry. The doner taste is normal and if you want they give you pickled beber. I don't like the atmosphere, whenever you sit down you smell of cigarettes. Turkish coffee also was good. İ love simit sarayi. As a foreigner I've tried many local shops and this is one of my favorites. İt is disappointing however to see, time after time at the Mecidiyeköy branch, the standard drop. The employees are less patient when you choose, the one at the the cash who hands you the food and money, her nails are very dirty (it's horrible) and the lettuce in my sandwich was not of good quality.
