Having tried several restaurants along the Atakoy Marina with average or disappointing results, Golab comes as a breath of fresh air. This seemingly new establishment offers an outstanding dining experience. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was evident. Ms. Sogol provided a warm welcome and ensured we were seated comfortably. We opted for their Iranian menu for dinner and were thoroughly impressed; the flavors of the dishes were authentic and delicious, and the presentation of the food was also noteworthy. Beyond the exceptional cuisine, Golab boasts a pleasant setup and décor, creating a relaxing and inviting ambiance. The service was also a standout, particularly our server Mohammed who was very attentive and complete. The presence of Ms. Sara, who seemed to be the manager, further enhanced the experience. Easily some of the best Iranian food you’ll ever have at the cost of poor service. The complimentary bread was delicious. We ordered a lentil soup (that needed a good squeeze of lemon, salt and pepper) and the mixed grill plate. Everything was cooked absolutely perfectly. The kofta and chicken were standouts. The lamb shank was tender but had no flavor at all. Our waiter couldn’t speak a word of English which made ordering difficult. He asked if we wanted one or two kinds of rice which made us think you could get half dill rice and have yellow but instead he charged us for two full plates of rice that we absolutely couldn’t finish. We asked for a large sparkling water and he brought out and opened an overpriced regular water and said he we had to keep it because they opened it. They were more focused on keeping the cats away (we don’t mind cats, it’s Turkey after all) and less on actually checking in on our table.
