I really wanted to like this restaurant – in fact, I was genuinely looking forward to the meal. The location is fantastic, right on the waterfront with stunning views, and the interior is beautiful, spread across three levels with a bar on the top floor. Unfortunately, the food and service did not live up to the setting. The menu, described as modern Anatolian, sounded great on paper and had several dishes that stood out. The waitress recommended the Tesir cocktail, which contains something called electric daisy. It left my mouth numb, similar to the effect of Szechuan pepper. Personally, I didn’t enjoy the sensation, though others may appreciate it. We were served amuse bouche to start, but they were placed down with no explanation. My son had to ask what they were, as he doesn’t eat fish. They turned out to be small pieces of bread with butter, olives, and cheese – fine, but nothing remarkable. For starters, we tried the bonito, the raki fish, and the warm hummus. The bonito was extremely salty and hard to enjoy, the raki fish tasted overly vinegary with little depth of flavour, while the hummus was nice. Our mains were the entrecôte steak, molasses chicken, and Konya. The Konya was good, the molasses chicken (a confit leg with a little molasses sauce) was just okay, and the steak was enjoyable, especially with the wheat purée. Service throughout the evening felt inconsistent – at times rushed, at other times slow. Mains arrived while we were still eating starters, and at the end we waited half an hour for someone to offer dessert before giving up, asking for the bill, and leaving. Overall, we left disappointed. The restaurant lacked the warm hospitality we’ve experienced elsewhere in Turkey, and too many dishes felt like style...
