Erenköy Gem: A Delicious Breakfast with a Few Catches , Looking for a vibrant and diverse breakfast spread in Erenköy, Istanbul? Look no further but keep a few points in mind! My friend and I ventured out on a weekend morning, prepared for a wait based on online reviews (and rightfully so – there was a 20-minute queue). While we knew the price point was on the higher side (560TL+), what surprised us were the additional charges for seemingly basic breakfast items.

Despite the price surprise, the breakfast itself was impressive. They offered a vast selection, but be aware that extras like juice, simit, and some pastries come at an additional cost. Even some jams and condiments were a bit of a mystery – we weren't sure if they were included, so we didn't indulge as much as we would have liked. However, the highlight was definitely the pumpkin jam – a delightful combination of crunchy on the outside and sweet and soft on the inside.

The real star of the show was the ambiance. We opted for the open garden seating, a smoke-free haven that was a breath of fresh air (literally!). The staff were friendly and attentive, although understandably overwhelmed by the weekend crowd. The location itself is fantastic – just a short walk from Erenköy Marmaray station. The beautiful villa that houses the restaurant boasts a cool and inviting atmosphere, with options for open-air seating (smoke-free and smoking areas), and even indoor seating.

We also enjoyed the pişi (fluffy Turkish doughnuts) and sucuk (spicy sausage), with the wait staff regularly checking if we needed more but not for jams unfortunately!!! Even when we asked for more items we got them after we finished. Here's the thing – while refills were offered, they should ideally be unlimited considering the price point. The same goes for the jams – one slow refill after our initial request left us wanting more. In the end, considering the additional charges for what felt like standard breakfast fare, the value for money didn't quite meet our expectations (especially considering our final bill of around 560TL per person add extra for orange juice). Adding some of these warm dishes to the base breakfast spread would definitely enhance the experience without adding extras fees.

Overall, they offer a delightful breakfast experience with a beautiful setting and friendly service. However, be mindful of the extra charges and potentially limited refills for certain items. With a few adjustments to their pricing structure, this Erenköy gem could...

I was there for breakfast on Sunday or Saturday. I don't remember exactly. I waited outside in the cold weather with my friend around 15 minutes. There was a queue which is not soo good. If you don't have capasity please ask for reservation. The atmosphere was not soo good inside. It was quite crowded and the noise was really high. You are not able to choose the table. You only choose inside, or outside(garden side). We wanted to sit outside on the garden side. The waiter came and explained the menu but we didn't understand anything because of the noise. He was like a robot and saying the words he memorized :D anyway we got our breakfast. It was quite delicious. Especially Sucuk from butcher they brought for tasting was really great. Bal-Kaymak(Honey and cream) were high quality. The food was quite delicious and it was open buffet. The price was really high since it was open-buffet. We paid around 800 Liras for 2 people. Just for tasting and experience, it is a nice place but I would not like to go there second...
