If I could, I would give it a zero if possible. If you are not a regular local I would not go to this restaurant, you will be treated like a 2nd rate customer. I rarely write a bad review but this one deserves one. These people don’t know the “golden rule”. We made a reservation a week before and specifically asked for a patio table , they sat a local at our table right in front of our eyes and tried to give us another table on the side. The staff and head waiter was rude. People go for the view , but nothing special about the view , the food is ok but overpriced , and service is terrible- unless they know you. If you are a foreigner forget about respect and good service. There are much better restaurants to go to , with much better food , services and prices. The view is not worth it and if your are visiting and planing to have a nice fish dinner in moda or Istanbul there are much better places that will appreciate you as a customer and treat people the way the should be with much better food. I have lived and visited istanbul multiple times and I can honestly say this is the worst restaurant experience I have had for a city that has excellent service , hospitality and food. I would not spoil you night, vacation or waste your money by...
Read moreKoço Seafood Restaurant is like an institution. In the 60's, in my childhood my parents were mentioning how delicious were the meze and fish, but I have read somewhere that the place was established in 1928 by a Greek Turkish citizen. The restaurant is located in Moda, Kadıköy, one of the upscale neighborhoods of İstanbul. I knew Moda since the 60's where my college was and is still located. Moda of that period was known for its quietness, it's greenery, and it's small jewel like boat terminal from where regular boat trips would ferry passengers to the European side of İstanbul. Since then İstanbul changed a lot, became very crowded and noisy, and Moda is no exception. We recently dined on a Sunday noon, at Koço. The restaurant is open from 12:00, so we were the first guests. The fish, sea bass, was fresh and expertly cooked. We also tasted some meze, again delicious. Cap your luch/dinner with a chocolate souffle or a Turkish "ekmek kadayıfı", you will not be disappointed. The price that was charged was acceptable for a wonderful lunch. For potential visitors, I would recommend that they select a noon lunch instead of a nightly dinner if quietness is their preference. Valet parking...
Read moreI usually don't leave reviews for unpleasant experiences in restaurants, however this time i will make an exception, maybe it will help others (especially tourists :)). Koço is a Kadikoy/Moda restaurant with a very nice view - close to seashore, big terrace on top of a hill. Quite many locals - this should be an indicator for a good place -, maybe that's why it's challenging to have an English conversation with the personnel :). The food is average, but the prices are good for what you get. What bothered us the most was the wine part - we asked for the house white wine (the white wines in the menu were 600-700 liras, so we were expecting similar, if not cheaper wine) and we received an ordinary wine that was worth more half the final bill (1050 liras out of 2090). I'm not sure if recommending the most expensive wine is a regular approach or it is something that only tourists experience there, but it is for sure the wrong way of doing business. Very disappointed, it was the most unpleasant experience during this Istanbul trip. Please note that we're not in Istanbul for the first time, we come often here and don't usually go in crowded touristic places (we even stay in Kadikoy to...
