KALAMAR BALIK - Eski Lara Yolu — Restaurant in Muratpaşa

Thank you SO much for RUINING my husbands birthday. I am beyond upset!! Worst experience of my entire life! Called for reservation and specifically asked for a nice table next to the ocean with a view, they offered me to order a birthday cake for my husband. I was excited and chose this place for that specific reason. When we arrived I told them the reservation name and they sat us down inside NOT at a table I specifically asked for. When I asked a few times for a better seat in the outside area the waiter said it's for reservation only.. I kept saying I made a reservation.. they ended up seating us outside in a table that's connected to another. Basically was seated in a long table along with 4 other men. The food was good but the service was beyond horrific they were packed and no one cared about us or seem to know it was his birthday. No birthday cake nothing. Couldn't wait to leave, will NOT recommend whatsoever for a special occasion as they clearly don't have their reservation in order. What made me more upset is that we saw the waiters move a whole big table into a two seater for these 2 Russian blondes.. we didn't get the same treatment when I constantly asked for a better table as I have called to reserve before coming and saying it's his birthday... Had to go to Chill right after down the block to make up for the horrible experience.......

We went there twice for dinner. The food was good but expected to be expensive if you didn’t order from the menu. There was no price sign for the fish. However we prepared to pay more. They take advantage of you from the price and weight of the fish if you are not locals. We ordered from the fish refrigerator. The jumbo prawns were good. I ordered the steamed fish twice, first night was white grouper and the second night was sea bass. If you don’t like dried grilled fish, it’s the way to go. The stuff crab shells were good and not expensive. Overall the food and services were fine. It is a popular place patronized by locals. The time came to pay your bill, the waiter reminded me that tips was included. I told him 10% and it went well. The second night, a different waiter told me the same thing. Without waiting for me, he punched in a 20% tips. It went through so quickly. I didn’t want to give him a hard time on a busy Friday night. I learned my lesson. Next time you visit this place, write the tips amount on a piece of paper to make sure there’s no misunderstanding. Btw, the bill is in Turkish. Or tell him that you’ll leave the tips in cash. The restaurant was highly recommended by Google Maps as a seafood restaurant. My experience during the visit was tense. When I came, I saw that some outdoor seats were available and they were at the last hour, as I came at 11 pm. The receptionist greeted me and directed me to a table. I asked him for an outside table and he told me very rudely that it was not available. I pointed to some of the available tables, but they were available. He then said some Turkish words to me and directed me to another employee and left me. There is no doubt that it caused something in my soul. The other employee was more welcoming and attentive.

As for the food, it was delicious and quick to prepare, except for the potatoes, which were noticeably cold!!
