I'll not speak for the rest ...and I know I stand the risk of sounding like a hater..but whoever says Shaka Zulu - Nakawa/Bugolobi has the best local food is just not informed or was last there 5 years ago. Not after bringing my family of 7 for a graduation lunch on 7th Dec 2022 (my first experience in 2019 was terrible, so this time, I made a phone call to the restaurant to get assurances).
First they told us we shall serve ourselves (buffet), then later another waitress informed us that it was nolonger possible. This was a red flag but we didn't take it serious. Local food options were done, but they wanted the money :)
Eventually we settled with what was there, but the day had been spoilt. Our expectations were really high. I literally had to walk to the kitchen area every now and then to understand why the orders were taking long 😂... wow. The chapatis have sugar and salt in them, juice took forever to come... I'll not talk about a fish size....we reached the extent of ignoring the sauce for the last plate.

The place is also children friendly. There are specific chairs for babies. I like it also that one can pay using Visa Card or Mobile Money.
If you want healthy local foods, Shaka Zulu...
Read moreThis was my first time to have authentic Ugandan food, and I enjoyed my visit to this restaurant. The atmosphere was good, the service was good, and the prices very reasonable. From the response from my companions it was very good. I enjoyed the Luwombo, even though it wasn't something I would have regularly. The rest of the foods were tasty. Overall I enjoyed my first encounter with Ugandan food, and this was probably a very good...
