Roast or Grilled Pork in Uganda is the go-to dish or comfort food or action food or active food or...you get the drift, no doubt? Bamboo Nest is one of the no-fail places to go to for its pork. They will deliver on your expectations at most times of the day or night, provided they are open - which only blacks out about three hours of any weekend night. Their pork is a bit more pricey than the one you find in the roadside shacks that present tasty, smoke-grilled pork on skewers complete with the juicy fat intact, but Bamboo Nest pork presents less fat and is considerably more per skewer. Still, it is MUCH cheaper than a regular cafe or restaurant on a high street. Besides pork Bamboo has a surprising pizza oven and a good, wide-range menu to choose from whether you're having tea and coffee or beers and spirits. The downstairs section is a sports bar popular with blokes watching football over the weekends, while the courtyard fills up easily with people excited about music videos on the large, projector screen. It's a fun place I have no qualms visiting whenever the opportunity presents itself, more so because you can get an Uber or Safeboda or even taxi very easily because it's located just a few metres from the busy main road...
