Avoid at all costs. Worst experience imaginable..
We went to watch the Wales versus France rugby match, at this purported sports bar.
It is not.
Stars-n-Bars had the worst live band I have ever heard, the vocals were off-key and pitched all to Hell and the drummer could not keep a beat. To maker it worse, they slaughtered classics from Bob Marley. Should be locked up!! Lock them up!!!
I suspect the band members had recently met at a remedial music class and somehow became radicalised. They launched their musical assault at Stars-n-Bars like a tuneless terror cell, intent on punishing all those who did not believe in their agonising musical renditions.
If the wailing of the band was not bad enough, the neighbouring bars were also pumping out music at very high volumes, perhaps competing to be the most irritating, and it produced a cacophony of bad percussion and bass. And much irritation.
Anyway. No worries, we were going to watch the match. In spite of the brain-numbing noise.
We had to ask the staff to show the game on a screen, which they did, but after 20 minutes the televisions suddenly went dark. This happened again and again throughout the game. The worst moment was when Wales managed a fantastic comeback. France 16, Wales 17!!! Then, with 10 minutes left to play, the whole video system died.
It is such a shame that the band somehow managed to keep screeching out brutal renditions of classic songs. How did their system stay live?
A 'sports bar' that is unable to screen sports, and instead blares excruciating noise at their customers... AGH!
I, that did never weep, now melt with woe
The staff were good, and they tried to be helpful. I suppose much like the staff on the Titanic tried to be helpful after striking the iceberg. There was nothing they could do to save the shambles that is Stars-n-Bars from sinking or from drowning us all in a mangled version of 'I shot the sheriff'.
Never go there. Never. Ever.
Except the Nachos were ok. Otherwise, a...

Considering I practically spent my weekend here with the formula 1, we came back here for our dinner, so this time I got an even closer look at the stunning Yas Hotel at night. We were seated outside, even though it is Abu Dhabi’s “winter” it was still extremely hot and humid. For starters we were given platters to share between all the tables, before making our choices for mains, and again for dessert it was a platter to share. Starters were a mix of their most popular appetizers Onions Rings, Fried Haloumi, Chicken Wings & Strips – as well as Charcoal Grilled Corn, Cheese Nachos, COBB Salad. I loved the sauce that came with one of the items, and the Onion Rings and Chicken Strips were quite tasty. Drinks wise, again I must say we are spoilt for choice in SA, but luckily I found some Bacardi on the menu, dashed with some ice Cold Coke. For Mains, there was a choice of Country Fried Chicken, Sizzling Fajitas, Classic Beef Burger, Fish n Chips, Margherita Pizza or Spinach and Mushroom Lasagne. As a typical American styled eatery, the portions were rather large. It was sad as we were so hungry we stuffed ourselves with starters that we didn’t have much space for mains and dessert. My Fish n Chips was a great choice, as the batter was crunchy and delicious, with my fries. Before getting desserts, our company had a few rounds of Quiz Night, which got everyone up and thinking. Dessert platter was a combination of some kind of Cakes, and brownies and maybe a Rice Pudding? Sadly it wasn’t very appealing. All in all a great night out, stunning views and loads of fun during the quiz event and on the dance floor. Thanks to all involved for a successful...
Read moreTo the Management of Star Bar
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am your loyal customer, Captain Salem, and I would like to express my deep dissatisfaction with the management approach that has been adopted recently. Since the opening of Star Bar, I have considered it my second home and have always been one of your most loyal and supportive customers, as I found in it a level of quality and comfort that made me choose it above all others.
Unfortunately, the new management has shown a completely different approach from what we have been accustomed to, as the dealings have become purely materialistic, with no appreciation or consideration for loyal customers who represent the cornerstone of any successful business. Despite our repeated attempts to explain our needs as customers, the responses have been rigid and inflexible, as if we are required only to comply without being listened to or understood.
I would like to remind you that successful management is the one that first earns the satisfaction of its customers. Flexibility in dealing with and meeting customer needs—especially long-term customers—is not optional but essential for ensuring continuity and success. On the other hand, a rigid and authoritarian approach will only result in losing the trust and loyalty of customers.
Therefore, I kindly urge you to reconsider the current management practices in a way that balances commercial interests with customer satisfaction, and to take serious steps towards improving the way customers are treated, so that Star Bar may continue to be known for its excellence and distinction.
With all due respect and appreciation, Your loyal...
