Read moreI recently attended the IIFA Awards 2024 at Etihad Arena, and I must say the experience was quite disappointing. First, the gates were supposed to open at 6:00 PM, but they didn’t actually let people in until after 6:30 PM. To make matters worse, the show, scheduled to start at 7:30 PM, didn’t begin until 9:15 PM—a huge delay that left many guests frustrated and tired. We were all left hanging, wondering when things would get moving. The delays were exhausting, and with no updates or explanations, it added to the overall dissatisfaction of the night. The lack of organization and consideration for the audience made what should have been an exciting event a real disappointment. To top it off, many of the celebrities arrived late, which added to the delays and diminished the excitement of the event. What could have been a glamorous and memorable evening was marred by poor organization and timing issues.
As someone who is pregnant, I was not allowed to bring my personal water bottle inside, even though I needed it for my water medication. I had to leave it at the gate. The only option was to buy water or beverages from the arena’s F&B stalls, but here’s the kicker: they open all the bottles because they don’t allow caps inside. My husband bought water, but they didn’t inform him that the bottle had been packed in a paper bag after removing the cap, and it ended up spilling on the way to our seats.
Overall, the mismanagement and lack of consideration for basic needs, especially for someone with medical requirements, made the experience frustrating. I expected better organization from such a...
Read moreI went to watch Trevor Noah show. The show was amazing. I am a big fan. The way he uses his wit to find satire and humour to bring forth the perspective of the third world is truly amazing. Administratively, Etihad Arena could improve. The timing of the show as shown in the ticket was: 7:00 pm - ‘gates open’. 9:00 pm - ‘show starts’. There was no gate closing time and hence people very disrespectfully kept on pouring in way after 9 pm. There should be clear gate closing time indicated on the ticket and late arrivals should at least not be allowed to enter from the entrance in the front so that the performer doesn’t feel disrespected or get disturbed. Secondly, while booking the tickets there should be an option of alcohol and no-alcohol zone. It is not very comfortable for those members of the audience who are not drinking when those who are enjoying their drinks start enjoying too much. Thirdly, The phones were taken away at the entrance and put inside locked pouches to prohibit audience from recording. This was very inconvenient because for the duration of the show one would get totally cut off from the rest of the world. In case of emergency, if those outside the arena tried to contact someone inside the show, it would not have been possible. This took away my peace of mind as my kids were too young to attend the show and I had left them at home. And then consequently, at the exit there was a huge crowd waiting to get their phone pouches unlocked. That part was not planned well at all. Yet watching Trevor Noah did compensate for the...
