I’ve ordered several times from Sultan Al Arab — chicken charcoal, shawarmas, hummus, muttabal, etc.

The food is consistently excellent: flavorful, well-cooked, and clean. The chicken tastes fresh (not “chickeny” or masked with heavy spices), the shawarma is delicious, and even the bread and the pickles are great. Truly, the food itself is top-notch.

But unfortunately, the customer treatment has been disappointing. On my first few orders through WhatsApp, I specifically requested no fries (as my child won’t eat anything else once he sees fries, and we don’t eat them ourselves). Despite repeating this request, it was ignored every time, and we ended up tossing the fries.

Then there’s the delivery charges. I paid AED 5 delivery even though my orders were over AED 60 and I’m only 6 km away — while almost every other restaurant offers free delivery for orders above AED 50. Still, I let it go.

What really frustrated me was my last order (2 Sultan Shawarmas + 1 Muttabal). After the driver had already left, I was suddenly told the delivery fee was AED 10. I asked to cancel, but was told the driver was already on the way. Eventually, they said they had a driver “going nearby anyway,” so it would be free — which only made the inconsistency worse. In the end, I paid AED 5 like before, but decided this would be my last delivery order.

It’s sad. I finally found a restaurant with clean, tasty food and good quality, but the lack of proper management, inconsistent delivery charges, and poor attention to customer requests ruined the experience.

[Edit/Update] ------- The owner of the restaurant personally contacted me after my review. He explained that the issue was 100% an employee’s mistake and clarified that their delivery policy is fixed — AED 10 only if the distance is more than 6 km, and it should never change from time to time.

He was very professional, apologized, and even offered me a discount on my next order (which I politely refused). Let’s be honest, he is clearly a hardworking owner who cares about his business and his customers, and I respect that.

Because of his genuine response and professionalism, I am updating my rating from 2 stars to 5 stars. Hopefully such issues don’t happen again, and I sincerely wish...

I placed an order for two meat shawarmas, which your team accepted without hesitation. After making me wait for 30 minutes, I received a WhatsApp message casually informing me that the item was no longer available. This is nothing short of blatant incompetence. If an item is out of stock, the customer should be informed immediately, not left waiting in vain. This kind of negligence and disregard for customer time is completely unacceptable.

Furthermore, my visit to your branch exposed another alarming issue—a notice blatantly offering free ice cream in exchange for Google reviews. This proves beyond doubt that your 4+ star rating is built on bribed, manipulated, and utterly misleading reviews rather than real customer satisfaction. This is a shameful business practice that deceives the public and tarnishes your credibility.

This level of dishonesty and poor service is a disgrace. I demand an immediate response and action to address both your shady review manipulation and pathetic customer service. If this issue is ignored, I will escalate this matter to consumer protection authorities and publicly expose these unethical practices.
