The booth style seating is reminiscent of the cha chaan tengs of Hong Kong but far more spacious as this is Dubai 😁 Service by the lady on front of house was brusque and efficient - as you’d expect of an establishment that markets itself as a Hong Kong legend. Complementary hot soba (buckwheat) tea was served on being seated and our order arrived on our table at lightning speed in generous portions, the stir fried ho fun with good “wok hei” (wok aroma). However, the roast meat (we opted for roast duck and bbq pork) left something to be desired. The duck portion contained only three half pieces of breast and the rest bone though the flavour was authentic - we are grateful that the lady on front of house promptly addressed our comments regarding this and supplemented the order with a thigh piece. The bbq pork did not have a fresh barbecue flavour and tasted more like it had been reheated as it was somewhat soggy. It should be noted this isn’t a restaurant that specialises in roast meats like the ones in HK with all the roast meats hanging up at the window, so if you have a craving that needs to be satisfied on some level, it can offer a decent taste of nostalgia. We also ordered prawn cheung fun and the portion was big though a little doughy. Again, it isn’t a dimsum specialty restaurant so for a place that provides such an extensive offering, the overall value is excellent. The HK milk tea also tasted delicious and authentic. The chefs, whom you can see in the clean kitchen behind glass, are clearly working very hard. Thank you for having us, HK...
Read moreThis restaurant offers a fantastic dining experience with a good balance of price and serving size. The atmosphere is typical of an Asian restaurant, with a cozy setup that can easily accommodate at least six diners. While it can get a bit crowded, especially during peak hours, it’s important not to judge the place solely on its busyness. Despite the hustle and bustle, the food here is nothing short of amazing.
The menu offers a range of delicious dishes, and everything I tried was perfectly cooked with authentic Asian flavors. The fried pork is a must-try, as well as the Peking duck, both of which are standout items. Each dish is prepared with great attention to detail, offering a true taste of Asian cuisine that will leave you coming back for more.
The prices are reasonable given the generous portions, though it is slightly on the higher side compared to other places in the area. Still, the quality and taste of the food make it worth every penny. The free parking outside adds extra convenience, making it a hassle-free option for a meal out.
While it may feel a bit crowded at times, the food alone makes this place worth the visit. The delicious, well-prepared dishes and the overall experience will definitely stay with you for the next few months. Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic...
Read moreThis is a gem of a place serving up Hong Kong-style Cantonese food in International City. If you're a foodie who is ready to get out and make an effort for good food, check out @kowloonhongkongrestaurant for genuine and delicious Cantonese food without lofty prices.
Although the meat dishes are truly amazing, do not hesitate to order any of the vegetarian appetizers or mains best of which are the Radish cake stir-fried with veggies in a spicy garlicky sauce which has a bite to it and the utterly simple and delicious cauliflower tossed in a wok with whole garlic and chopped up green and red chillies.
Please try the Xiaolongbao with its juicy meat interior that can easily give the Michelin star restaurants a run for their money and the spicy chicken which has small pieces of fried bone-in chicken with whole chillies and garlic. The marinated sliced BBQ meat (pork is also an option) is spectacular.
End your meal with a Pineapple Bun and you cannot go wrong. No one will judge you for ordering two of those.
Is the restaurant basic and not in the fanciest part of town? I don't care. What matters is that it serves...
