Shake Shack is a NYC based burger specialist (basically premium fast-food) that has made quite the international splash in recent years, opening up in cities like Tokyo, Hong Kong and Dubai, which now has 5 franchises including the 24-hour Shake Shake in Terminal 3 Concourse A at Dubai International Airport.

We visited here during a recent layover in Dubai for a single Smoke Shack burger, fries and peanut butter shake (AED 111, approx US$30.25). Obviously this is way too much to pay for Shake Shack anywhere. However, given that this Dubai International Airport where everything is very expensive, some allowance can be made for the very high price to eat here.

Here you find a rather large seating area and the same Shake Shack order system you'll find at their other branches. Order and pay at the counter, take your pager and find a table. Once your pager goes off, your order i ready, return to the pick-up side of the front counter and get your meal.

As for the food, we have been really disappointed with the first Shake Shack that opened in Hong Kong last year so had our doubts when ordering. Happy to report that our Smoke Shack was pretty good. Patty grilled nicely, topped with veal bacon, sweet cherry tomato served in a milk bun. This was tasty burger - like those enjoyed in NYC over the years. Fries served just fine. We were also happy with the peanut butter shake. It was nice and thick, tasted as expected.

Overall, we found the food served up at the Shake Shack in Dubai International Airport to be just fine but man the price is high here, roughly twice what it cost to try Shake Shack in NYC. It is a lot to spend for a burger, fries and shake, which is something to think about before deciding to try this Shake...
