Never judge a restaurant by the distance you have to travel to get there!
Socialicious is a cosy cafe in Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai that serves a blend of Asian food, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian, to suit all palates. ItĀ is not only apt for a family gathering or a business meeting, but it is also pet-friendly!
We visited as a couple for lunch on a Friday, to review the food and the restaurant. It was a little difficult to locate (as some location apps fail to provide the location), and pretty far off from the heart of Dubai, but once we reached there, it felt really worth it!
We ordered drinks, a palate cleanser/salad, appetizers, main course and desserts. Here are the reviews for each:
The Granny Smith and Spear Mint Cooler was refreshing and looked attractive, decorated with cranberries and edible flowers. The orange peel was creatively marked with theĀ Socialicious logo on it! The glass was rimmed with salt and powdered paprika/red chilli . The drink was good, but I feel the paprika/red chilli could have been optional, as not everyone likes their 'cooler' to be spicy.
The Raw Papaya salad was presented well and looked good. It was fresh to eat, although the quantity seemed too much for one person. I recommend that when you order a meal for two, you can share the salad. Again here, there were pieces of red chilliesĀ that made it spicy, which could have been made optional.
Appetizers:
a) The Thai Smoked Corn Cake was a creative and innovative dish which was good. However, here, a little chilli or dipping sauce could have been included to enhance its taste.
b) The Balinese Chicken Skewers which resembled chicken satay. were larger than bite-sized pieces of tasty chicken on skewers, with a yummy dipping sauce. I would order this one again on my next visit!
c) The Prawn Tempura, which is an all-time favorite, was crunchy on the outside and cooked to perfection. Of the two dipping sauces, the wasabi-mayo was extremely good, while the soy-based one was a wee bit salty. All in all, a very tasty dish.
The Singaporean Laksa was a hearty soup with noodles and vegetables in a broth which included coconut milk. A tasty, wholesome and nutritious soup, which could do better by reducing the proportion of coconut milk.
The Tori Katsu Curry which consisted of breaded deep-fried chicken served with a coconut-based gravy and vegetables along with sticky rice. This was a filling meal in itself. However, it was a bit bland, unless eaten with the spicy salad! Again, the taste of the coconut milk was a bit sharp although it was served with a small amount of gravy.
Desserts:
a) The baked yoghurt was much tastier than the name suggests. It was smooth and yummy and presented beautifully. It's a must have, but can be shared between two persons, if eaten after a full meal.
b) The panna cotta was smooth and perfect and was yummy. However, it was presented in a long plate.. for decorative reasons? This is a must try here. The passion fruit coulis accompanying it was a bit too strong, so I suggest you have the panna cotta by itself :)
c) The carrot cake looked beautful, but was not upto my expectations. It could do with a little more carrot to keep upto its name, and also enhance the taste.
d) The mango pudding was smooth and tasty but could do without the additional sago on the top.
The ambience was good and made our Friday feel like a day of relaxation!
It is worth mentioning that Socialicious has a regular table-chair seating as well as a relaxed couch-and- coffee-table setting as well as an outdoor seating that you could chose from, depending on the occasion and time that you visit. The staff was friendly and polite. Car parking was not a problem inĀ Jumeirah Village CircleĀ as the area is not densely populated...and it's free too!

Ā Ā Ā Read moreDonāt believe the ratings! The worst ever restaurant! It took 2hours to bring the food additional 2 hours for the dessert as well! The food was so bad!
Highly not recommended at all! So disappointed
2 . First of all,we are group! Of course you should put 2 tables with 6 chairs because we are six! Of course we cannot sit in many different table like an idiot coz we are group! And you are unprofessional at all! Since we arrived, you should tell us that you cannot do that then we can go and leave immediately and go to different restaurant. Speaking of salad, you need to use a microscope to find and see the salad coz itās so tiny and extra small not even a kid salad..Group of 6 people at least you put 2. We had a nice time in the restaurant because we shared and talked and taking pictures but your horrible service and pathetic restaurant was the worst ever i had in my life! Soo disaster! After we waited for 40 minutes the staff came and informed us that there is technical issue you should inform us earlier than so that we can go somewhere because all of us are starving! Before we order we already told you that please whatever ready just bring it up coz everyone is hungry. But you let us another more than 1 hour to bring the food! Then we took another 45 minutes to get the dessert! Totally ridiculous! Just to be honest, dessert doesnāt need gas to prepare coz itās ready from the fridge like cheesecake! About the fish,i did not say the grilled salmon is appreciated! It was taste like diesel! You should reply for your apologize not with lies in the comments just to prove other costumers that you are right! Highly not recommended and disappointed! Unhappy! Never expect! Worst restaurant in the world! Imagined we came 4:30pm daytime then we left 7:30pm night time just only main course! Everyone left unhappy from your service! Avoid this restaurant all...
