I do not ever review restaurants, however, with this experience I was compelled to sit down and express the humiliation I felt at my dine in experience in dar al ward - Ittihad street branch.
Dar al ward had always been one of my favourite restaurants that I had recommended naturally to many people.
However, with my recent experience.
I wanted to get into details with how I was treated by the staff.
Firstly, I experienced racism where an Arab customer were given our table which me and my friend were already sitting in.
After the table was taken, we still tried to accommodate by finding another table to which we were told to get up and stand in their kitchen because we wanted takeaway, mind it there were several tables also empty,
At that time, I felt extremely uncomfortable but because we had made up our mind to have dar Al ward shawerma which has been my favourite since years - I brushed it off and went ahead and waited in their kitchen takeaway area.
The problem was not waiting but the problem was definitely rude staff and racism from them.
I’m sad to say that I can NEVER feel ok with buying from here anymore. But I had to say it. I was too numb to stand up for myself in the restaurant. So this is my small attempt to stand up for myself.

Read moreDar Ward is hands down one of the best spots in Sharjah for authentic Syrian food. The atmosphere is cozy and elegant, with a real sense of Syrian hospitality that you feel as soon as you walk in.
We ordered the Kebab fakhara, and honestly, it was the star of the meal. The meat was so fresh and tender, cooked to perfection in this rich, flavorful sauce that made every bite better than the last. You could really tell it was made with care and traditional techniques — nothing felt rushed or overly commercial.
We also tried the arayes, and they were incredible — crispy on the outside, juicy and flavorful on the inside. They had that perfect balance of seasoning and texture that’s surprisingly hard to find done right.
Everything from the presentation to the portion sizes was spot on. If you’re a fan of Levantine cuisine or just want to try something genuinely satisfying, Dar Ward should be high on your list. Can’t wait to go back and try more dishes! Highly...
Read moreThe food at Dar Ward is excellent, but unfortunately the service has declined significantly. As a regular customer, I’ve noticed that some of the Arab waiters have become inattentive and indifferent, almost as if they don’t care about the guests (perhaps because I don’t leave tips).
The manager — previously the one with long hair — often stares at customers in a way that feels unwelcoming, as though he’s unhappy to see you or doing you a favor.
This was not the case before, and it’s disappointing to see how the atmosphere has changed. The only reason I continue to visit Dar Ward is for the great food, not the service, which has sadly become a negative part of the experience. To be honest, only Waseem and Abdo...
