Diplomat Restaurant is a gem that has been around since 1976, originally known as Abu Darwish. Tucked inside the market, this family-run spot screams nostalgia with its old-school sign, cozy decor, and warm service. It started as an Arabic restaurant and still serves up classics like stews, Levantine beans such as foul and mosabaha, and grills. The menu feels like a hug from the past. We tried their signature Hummus Nashif, creamy hummus topped with tender meat cubes in a fresh tomato stew. It was a winner. The grilled chicken was just as solid, juicy, and paired with a free side of hummus and bread. Their hummus is so good, I didn’t mind seeing it twice. They also toss in generous sides like salads and pickles, which is a nice touch. One quirky highlight: you can ask the waiter to grab fresh tanoor bread from a nearby bakery. It is not even part of the restaurant, but it pairs perfectly and adds to the charm. The only letdown was the tea, just a teabag in hot water, though the fresh mint leaves helped. At 74 dirhams, the bill was a steal for the quality and portion. You pay at the counter on your way out, another nostalgic nod. The staff is super friendly, and parking is easy behind the place. Diplomat is a rare find, and I hope it sticks around forever. I will definitely be back.

I went today for lunch had the charcoal chicken the food was absolutely amazing it deserves a 5 star. However the worst service i have ever experienced in UAE. The staff are lazy and when i was sat at the table they took like 3 mins to just choose which guy would come take my order. Then i asked what were their special dish they blatantly just ignored and point to ask some1 else. After my meal i went to pay the bill and they made me wait like 5 mins at the counter whilst they were on the phone. When i called them they showed the wait hand gesture and once i reacted they came and took the money Incredible food but incredibly lazy staff

We went here for breakfast early morning. The place is a humble shop situated in the middle of a very narrow street, easy to miss even when following Google Maps. The food was nice and fresh, we liked almost everything we ordered. The prices are standard; too standard to be honest, as these prices are acceptable for a restaurant of a much higher standard (Aroos Damascus comes to mind) but not here. The place is not all that well maintained and there's no bathroom available to use, definitely not for ladies or kids. I'd say it's okay for a couple of guys to go for a quick bite, but other than that only takeaway makes sense.

Before starting this review I'd note that i heard about this place from a local news social media page, they were talking about how this restaurant has served most of sharjah residents since long, so i decided to pay a visit with two friends to have breakfast.

This review is based on the following experience:

I ordered the following:

5 soft drinks ( 15 dhs) 2 small water ( 2 dhs) 1 Hummus with Nashef (30 dhs) 1 Nashef Meat (20 dhs) 1 Foul (14 dhs) 1 Fatteh with oil "No ghee they said" (14 dhs) 1 Eggs and tomatoes (16 dhs)

Meat wasn't cooked enough Egg and tomatoes platter had a bad aftertaste Fatteh with oil had no taste Foul was alright Meat Nashef is edible

Pros: Staff are friendly No hidden fees Paid Parking is available Nearby

Cons: Food Quality (2/5) Food Quantity (2/5) Food Price...
