My brother-in-law invited the family to the chop grill & bar inside the Sandman signature hotel for my sister's 30th birthday
I was very impressed with the entrance when we came in, it was very stylish, and I was struggling to decide what to look at first.
Food and drinks There was a great choice on the menu lots of dishes I never heard of and look forward to trying more meals in the future.
The restaurant managed something impossible there was more than one choice on the menu for my grammar which is never heard of when we're taking her out, and she didn't complain about the meal and is looking forward to coming back.
My sister had the fish tackles and loved them. She was said she'd been looking for ones that were as good as the one in America and couldn't find any in Aberdeen so another fantastic thing there.
We all enjoyed our meals; it was of very high quality, and the service was excellent.
They have lots of exciting weekly deals which we would like to try in the future.
We all tried some new drinks, and there was such a variety of things and some drinks we had never even seen before.
It was on the expensive side, but the quality of the food and drinks was excellent, so it was worth it.
Accessibility
I have no problem getting into the restaurant and getting myself seated in the restaurant in my wheelchair.
The disabled bathroom was excellent and plenty of room to transfer. There's only one thing missing, and that is a bar on the back of the inside door as it can be tricky to close the toilet door when in a wheelchair.
The staff and restaurant. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We did have a few times when we struggle to get a staff member attention to order stuff, but they always apologise for the inconvenience.
The place was clean and tidy, but there was some detail cleaning I think they could brush up on like the Chrome and the mirrors were a bit smudge.
The whole family were saying that they would love to come back for another meal; so we will be coming back...
Read moreHad out first meal here after hearing great reviews and we were so disappointed.
Everything was great to begin with and we were very impressed by the cocktails and expected to be in for an amazing meal.
The steak was honestly the worst i've ever had. It took over an hour to come and there was only 4 other tables in. The waiter was extremely annoying and kept coming over to us and saying 'I promise your food is just coming!!!' He came over 4 times within the hour saying this, fair enough being attentive but we didn't ask him once why it was taking so long and it obviously wasn't just coming the first time he said it as it came about half an hour later.
Our medium rare steaks were more like well done / burnt. No blood coming out of it and fully cooked. Extremely chewy and hard to cut. The vegetables on the side were disappointing the only good thing was the chips. Asked for garlic butter and it was apparently melted into my steak but couldn't taste it and the steak was ridiculously dry. Had to pay extra for that aswell???
After being extremely attentive they completely forgot about us. Took ages to get our plates. Didnt take the bill to us after asking so we had to ask again. Didnt give us change so we had to go up and ask ourselves again. Keeping in mind it wasn't busy at all. Majorly over priced menu for what you get. Other places in Aberdeen beat this one by miles we will never...
Read moreFirst look of the place it was fine. As I Al walked in there were no staff on sight to help with the seating. We had to go to the back to get someone to assist us. Moving on to the food, I had the cheese burger( it was 20 pounds btw) and my friend had the fish and chips( this one was 22 pounds) and it took around 35 minutes for the food to arrive which is absurdly long for a fine dine place like that, mainly because it was empty as well. Second thing was the food. After waiting that long the fish and chips came, but once again another disappointment. The quality of the fish was questionable, due to its soggy texture which was very unpleasant to eat, next was the cheese burger. It looked like it was crafted in a kebab shop. A slice of pickle and tiny tomato slice, and an over and I mean OVER cooked patty. I was very disappointed by the first bite I felt sad for my husband which was paying for it. No person should experience such a disgrace of a burger. Not to mention the service, which was absurdly mediocre. I left that place with a frown on my face. But overall, as a senior yelper and a local yelper in Aberdeen I would give this place a 3.1/5...
