I don’t feel like I had the best service whiles being at the northern bar. We’ve all been many of times before but never had a problem.
We had a table booked at half 6 for me, my boyfriend, his friend and his girlfriend. We arrived before them but we wasn’t asked if we was from a different household or even asked for a phone number, for the track and trace. Are friends then arrived and wasn’t asked either. We all ordered are food. It came within a long while of waiting. When we were served are food. my boyfriend was served his food last. He had the chicken Tikka but when he bit into it he said it was like soggy, with ice still on it. Normally in a restaurant someone would come over and ask how the food was, we had nothing like that. So we had to call someone over. We heard another Table being asked if there food was alright, not long after.
We had said to the her about this meal and she took it, so he would get a hot one as fast as possible. The manager came an apologies.
By the time my boyfriend was waiting for his food.We was all done are food so we asked for the bill. My boyfriend was put of even wanting to eat this food. The fact my boyfriend doesn’t like going out as he suffers from very bad anxiety. Made him feel put on the spot. I could see the waitresses at the bar was looking over constantly, while he was eating he then noticed and couldn’t eat. We had to stop for something to eat on the way home.
When we looked at the bill we was giving no discount or the meal for free. I’d think we would be giving even something,With the service we was giving as you’d want to make the customers to feel like I’d want to come back. We then paid are meal and left. We was giving no thank you for coming,...
Read moreFantastic place. Decent food, great drinks, and great prices. The atmosphere is good, very different between the front and the back and the back is more my speed, but a great place to meet up and hang out with your friends for a few drinks.
Slightly worried about the change in ownership over the past year however. The Northern has always been a staunch ally of the LGBTQ+ community in Aberdeen and previously collaborated with various queer organizations on events, but since the change in ownership the once-monthly queer karaoke nights have come to an end and the pride flags in the windows of the back half, previously up year round, did not stay up past June this year.
Hopefully however I am worrying over nothing and the Northern will continue to be a fantastic and welcoming community hotspot. At least for the moments as long as the incredible friendly and welcoming staff like Sam are still around and working the bar it'll still be mine and many others go-to...
Read moreI've been in a few times before and it's been fine. However, I've been to watch the football twice now and it wasn't great. I got there early both times to get a decent seat but when the game came on it was switched over to suit the regulars at the other end of the bar. They seem to control the TVs. I mentioned that I can't see the game as well now that it's been switched over to the staff (who knew I'd asked the TV setup upon entry and was sat there specifically for that game) and this was shrugged off. There were also a couple of guys who came for the main game (Man City v Liverpool not Celtic v Livingston) behind me who I could hear were irritated by this and left at half time - they were seated with drinks and the game was abruptly switched over. Despite this I thought the guys behind the bar were really friendly and the English girl was nice also but I thought the blonde girl was rude. Overall a nice bar but for watching football I'll probably head...
