First time being in here in many years, potentially since it became a part of a chain. Used to be a frequent place when a student and there was always a good platefull no matter what you ordered. We were a party of 3 and found there was plenty seats even though the Tall Ships were just arriving in the city. Me and my partner had the fish and chips and my mum had the beer battered halibut. Decent plate portions with the two fish and chips being tasty and no complaints. The beer battered halibut was large, however on getting some of it to try, the beer batter overpowered any taste of the fish. Bit disappointing, but as it was over £16+ my mum (81) still finished it with stray chips and parts of the fish magically appearing on my plate every so often. 😂

The staffs are very friendly and patiently explain to us what is a potted crab (importantly with his warm smile), which I never had before. We ordered potted crab and nachos. Nachos are great. Keep it up. Highly recommended. The atmosphere of the pub is awesome. Lots of TVs in all directions for you to watch games. I also enjoy the old design of the building. There is also board games for everyone to enjoy. There must be something to suit everyone here.

We love Ma Cameron's. Good food, polite service with a smile. Muzac just as we like it - almost inaudible where we sat - though we prefer total silence so we can hear the music of our conversation. I find the normal sized fish and chips quite sufficient but my wife dared me to try the large version - little did I know there was method in the madness. When it arrived she took half a fish away to supplement her smaller steak sandwich.

Went here for afternoon fish and chips with mushy peas, having visited before was expecting a lovely piece of fish, being in Aberdeen afterall. We did not even look at the menu 3 p.m. After a long drive from Edinburgh, we knew exactly what we wanted, a pint two diet cokes and 3 fish and chips with mushy peas! Thanks server was happy and commented, "easy enough", thank you, drinks followed shortly, waited with great anticipation and being hungry 😀, out came the three plates with 3 minows in over fried batter, semicrushed sweet peas, and reheated frozen brakes chips! I to say the least instantly mentioned the peas looked like they were stood on! The chips lukewarm dry and inconsistently coloured, ie old and new mixed, or some left over hot oil next to the base of the frying basket, limp pea shoots for garnish, and a pre seared 1/2 miniature lemon that must have been recovered from bin given texture of a sodden sponge, overall the most horrible plate ever put in front of me! Congratulations to whoever plated this lot for sure needs to go back and learn how to cook the most popular meal in the UK. Not to forget the sauce it actually had a skin forming on it but was warm and rancid. They would have to paint the neck of the cabbage mechanic red to embarras him, stood at the bar and glared over at us, needles to say the majority of the plate went back untouched bar me scrapping a bitto fish flesh out as I was hungry, all in it cost £55. We left and will never return to this establishment. Edinburgh Belhaven (greenking) 100%. As a professional chef, and having previously worked in many pubs, I can assure you the three plates would never have left my kitchen. With reference to the response by raig, we did mention the fish size, the waitress was in the first instance on denial mode, it was not until I informed her that I was employed within the trade and made my knowledge regarding what was presented she retracted, she was polite and service was not an issue, the problem was the food was not upto the standard of what was being advertised, size of fish, peas, and triple fried chips? Bought in frozen brakes are not fresh triple fried, thank your for your response, however looking at a review from last month a (Sunday), it is apparent the issue with chefs or should I say kitchen staff, is an ongoing issue as it is countrywide, it is well understood there is a national shortage of quality chefs, this was caused by the self interests and profiteering by companies hiring Eastern Europeans, this caused British graduates and training facilities to close over many years.Brexit enforced the return of labour as wages and quality of life in there own countries improved, leaving the UK with a shortage of the lowest paid jobs sectors, not just catering but a national concern in all industries. PAY DECENT WAGES TO CHEFS and there commises and staff in general, then folk would not complain when there food is altogether with service produced and presented professionally. In Edinburgh the cost was £68 for three fish and chips and same drinks, we left a gratuity of £12. Alloa Old Brewery served very similar standard of food and I did the same response, as your waitress explained to me there are or what seems to be different franchise owners now or sud company divisional management maybe those responsible for changing the fish portion size to a 6 instead of the regular 10s or 12s should take note and listen to...

I would leave no stars if it was possible. Myself, partner, daughter and grandson booked for a meal Sun 07/11 at 5pm. Got seated no problem. Drinks arrived promptly but when the food arrived the only thing that was edible was my grandsons fish fingers and chips from the children's menu. Both my daughters and my chicken was pink inside and my partner, who ordered sausage and mash received over cooked hard sausages and grey, micro'd mash. Both chicken dishes were removed from bill, but as one was part of the 2 for 11.99 deal it resulted in paying 8.99 for sausages that could have been used as weapons and mash I could have used as wallpaper paste. There was no apology, no customer service to speak of, no offer to comp anything. Massive drop in standards in both food and service since last there In August. It was so disappointing. I've been going to Ma's for 30 yrs and am both sad and sorry that today visit resulted in my decision to never go again.

Can't praise Alan highly enough. After the above issue he contacted me immediately and was very sincere in his apologies. He has sent me a gift card as well. This has absolutely restored my faith in the customer service in Ma's and may well tempt me back across the door next time I'm back in Aberdeen, the increase in stars is due to how Alan handled the...

I booked tables at Ma Camerons to celebrate my partners 75th birthday,on Oct 5th 2013. When our party turned up it was to find the tables taken by others, this resulted in our being seated where tables could be found for us. The service was lousy, the meals growing cold by the time they got to us and, anyone with authority kept well out of sight, if indeed, anyone was in charge. All in all, it was an unmitigated disaster. Needless to say, we now give any Belhaven pub, we now come across, a wide berth. This is the reward reaped by Belhaven and, the efforts or, rather lack of same, by their staff. Although, I did feel for the poor guy, who ran himself ragged, trying to find where the members of our group were, so he could serve them their tepid meals. The expression, "They couldn't hold a booze up in a brewery", springs readily to mind, in...
