I had to go to Aberdeen for a university conference at King's College, and I found the nicest place! After a long trip, I was a bit confused about where the entrance was, but I was quickly directed to the reception and figured it out. A heads-up: Google Maps doesn't lead you directly to the reception, so pay attention!
The lady at the reception was very kind, asking about my trip and how I was doing, which made me feel welcome.
The place is truly unique, as it's part of a church adapted into a B&B. My room was charming, clean, and well-equipped with a TV, tea/coffee supplies, and an electric kettle. I also found an iron and ironing board, which could come in handy. Breakfast was served in a lounge every morning. It was basic but good, with bread and everything you'd need.
The university was about a 30-minute walk away, making it conveniently close to the city center. I often returned late at night, and although the surroundings were a bit eerie, everything was fine. The path back to the entrance takes you through a courtyard, which can feel a little unsettling, but the lamps light up the way as you walk.
I slept well, cozy, and without much noise—just the occasional sound of footsteps from the floor above. During the daytime, the building is fascinating, especially from the outside, where it looks like a little castle.
I want to highlight how understanding the staff was on my last day. I mistakenly thought I needed to check out a day later than I was supposed to, but they weren't upset. I paid £25 for returning the key card late, and they even helped me book another room for one more night.
I would have loved to stay for the Sunday service at the nearby church if I'd had more time!
Overall, I highly recommend this place. It's not a 5-star hotel, and it doesn't claim to be. There are small areas for improvement, and you might notice a few aesthetic imperfections, but these don't affect the quality of service. I recommend it and would choose to...
Read moreThis place is nothing like the description on the website. We arrived a little early for check-in and found both gates for parking at the property locked. The Rosemount sits on a very busy junction so finding somewhere else to park was a challenge. Eventually parked and went to the entry door, which was locked. There was a sign with instructions to phone if the door is locked so tried several times and got no answer. Had to move the car and decided to park in one of the driveways. Eventually a male approached us and said we couldn't park there. He didn't advise us that he actually worked at the Rosemount. We explained we had a booking, which he didn't seem to believe. Told him the door was locked and he responded with "did you phone the number". He reluctantly opened a gate for us to park and unlocked the front door at 3.00pm, even though it is meant to open at 2.30pm. We checked in and said our booking was 6 nights with breakfast. He replied it didn't include breakfast until I told him I had confirmation that it did. He emphasised there was no cooked breakfast. Our room felt like a dungeon, with a lot of road noise. The basin/cupboard had been hacksawed to fit. We decided we could not stay so tried to get internet connection to find suitable accommodation. No internet, so went to the front desk and spoke to the same male. He couldn't get me connected and eventually gave me a Huawei connection which, thankfully, didn’t work either. We drove and found a suitable hotel and checked out of the Rosemount 2 hours after arriving. The breakfast, so called restaurant area, is uninviting and the garden non-existent. No refund for...
Read moreThe B&B has cosy rooms with all facilities you would need. Our room contaied an iron, en-suite shower, TV with sky and tea/coffee making facilities. For the price you pay, it is definitely amazing.
The staff here are the friendliest. They always kept smiling and we're very helpful throughout the visit. Definitely worth going to for a chat if nothing else.
Breakfast is self service. You have a choice between a hot and a child breakfast. A hot breakfast includes eggs, bacon, baked beans, sausages and toast. All of which were booked well. The cold breakfast gives a wide choice of many. There are also a big of apple and orange juice. Having the breakfast included in such a low price was amazing.
The only bad thing I can mention is trying to get in at night. They luck their doors after 11pm as they close reception. This means you have to call up the number on the door to get in. Unfortunately, that didn't work on this occasion and had to stay in another hotel. I hope this gets improved upon in the future.
Overall, it was a fantastic stay and I will be encouraging people to come here in the future. I also look forward to visiting...
