Tides Pizzeria — Restaurant in Adur

Despite having had good takeaways before,I ordered through Uber, was notified the delivery had left the restaurant. Delivery due in 12 mins, 30 mins later I called the Restaurant, the driver left a message with no contact Tel number while I was talking to the restaurant... He had found 51, 53 + 55, but no 54 - What unbelievable incompetence! I called the restaurant back, the man who answered was not in the least bit empathetic & he said the driver was having difficulty finding it - I explained why - He said didn't want to argue. I have now been charged for the takeaway by Uber. Goodbye Tides + Uber.

1. I did not say 54 was directly opposite, I said any delivery driver would know almost all roads have even numbers on the opposite side to odd - Not rocket science! This backs up my experience of not being listened to when I called, just fobbed off.
2. I had previously looked up & down the street from the front door and shouted with no response.
3. I could not stand on the street as I had suspected Covid, I didn't mention this to you or the driver, (Positive result was confirmed the morning after by NHS email).
4. The whitebait would have been spoilt along with the other food having spent so long waiting with the driver.
5. The reason I ordered, rather than collected was because I was isolating and not allowed out. I was also hungry & had very little in, when I was caught out by Covid.
6. I hung up because you were not listening to what I said, I needed to eat & ended up having to order elsewhere just before they closed on Saturday night. I did not pick up, (the phone went voicemail), because I was ordering elsewhere, but no message left.
7. The person who replied to my original post was either not the person I spoke with or has an erroneous recollection of events on Saturday night.
8. To potential customers - Previous food from here has been great, But Beware if you query or live on a road where odd & even street numbers are not directly...

Awful complaint/dispute handling. Ordered a takeaway pizza and ticked the option for vegan cheese. The pizza arrived with vegan cheese dumped on top of normal mozzarella. After phoning to explain the situation, they had the audacity we to say it was our fault for not being clear enough, and if we wanted replacements we'd have to pay for them.

On what planet would somebody order vegan cheese on top of normal cheese? Nobody wants that. They told us it's happened many times before with different customers, but apparently they keep doing it anyway. Our phone number was attached the order so we could've been contacted quickly to double check. It really beggars belief.

All of this could've been resolved and forgotten about quickly, but instead they chose to be unhelpful and un-accomodating regarding this common mistake that, by their own admission, seems to happen...

Update 02/07/2025 Still ordering delicious pizza from tides. Always hot food! Excellent! This is the second time we've ordered from here, online. Enjoyed our pizzas every time. They're delicious! Whenever we order you always arrive on time. Fabulous. We were undecided on what pizzeria to use as tried a few. I think we have made our decision. the other thing we liked is the fact that all pizzas are the same size. A firm decision. Thank you for your speedy service and delicious food.
