3 of us visited Saturday lunchtime. Waitress missed the coffee off one order that was paid for and had to be reminded. After payment, we were told the wait would be 30mins (wish we had known), it was by this time 2pm so not exactly rush hour!! I noticed on my receipt I had been over charged, when I questioned this I was told the price had increased and they were waiting for new menus. I reminded them that the price on the current available menu is what I should be charged for, not for a menu that wasnt available. The waitress walked off and returned with the price difference, slamming it on the table and without comment. A few minutes later, (who I presume was the manageress,)came over to us and again in a very rude manner continued to insist that the prices had increased and that I should be paying the extra charge. She then gave me the current menu and showed that they had stuck orange stickers on some items that had increased, but not on the cheese I had ordered to top my poached eggs. I was quite shocked by her attitude as i had remained calm and polite throughout, but i insisted that I know my rights and that its trade description to charge extra for a item that is clearly marked at another. Her reply to me was 'well you won't be getting much cheese then!!). My sisters meal came out after 30mins, and by the time we got ours, she had almost eaten hers, after another long wait. My eggs were hard, cold and only one slice of toast with a small sprinkling of grated cheese on top, not melted. The general quality of all our meals was poor, service diabolical and rude. I am not in the habit of leaving bad reveiws, but feel on this occasion, it is valied. We often eat out, and like to support local independent venues, and there is a lot of choice in Belper, but we certainly will not be returning to this one, and I intend spreading the news to various friends and family that live...
Read moreVisited G Cafe last Sunday for family breakfast. I ordered Mediterranean Breakfast which was very disappointing for the price. Worst coleslaw I’ve ever eaten with ridiculous amount of mayonnaise in it. Extremely greasy piece of naan bread with oil dropping down, covering all the rest of the food on the plate. Best thing on the plate was salad and few olives. They could definitely put more effort into £12 meal. My partner ordered Kebab wrap which was extremely greasy also. There was lots of oil dropping down from inside the wrap so eating it without having an accident of getting dirty was almost impossible. Table next to us which came after us received their Mediterranean Breakfasts first even though my partner and son were already eating their food so I had to wait for a while before my food arrived to the table. Our Turkish coffee never arrived. We ordered one together with food and asked our server twice for it but by the time we got our food, ate it and was ready to leave, coffee was nowhere near ready. Very poor experience. At the end my partner asked for manager contact details just to be informed that they are not allowed to share that information. Worst customer service experience ever and food isn’t good neither so if you’re in Belper, I will highly recommend to pick another place to have cup of coffee and breakfast. It was expensive as well as we paid almost £50 for 2 adult breakfast, child breakfast and 3 drinks....
Read moreCalled here today hoping for a nice meal with my disabled partner and our assistance dog, says dog friendly on the sign outside, we walked in as far as the cake counter in the middle only to be stopped and said the front of the cafe is the only place to sit with a dog, in that area all the chairs are the low bucket type chair which is not suitable for my partner, so I explained that our dog is an assistance dog so could we sit in the other side where the chairs are more suitable, I'll go and ask for you was the response we got, so we stood for a few minutes, they then came back and said do you have any documentation regarding the dog..he's a mini Daschund wearing his collar that identifies him as to what he is, you must show paperwork ,again I explained there is no legal requirement for paperwork and we shouldn't be questioned like this ,they said sorry but you can't come into the back,I said that they discriminating against us they couldn't care less, so we walked out and told them to shove their business. If you have any disability or a dog that you need for your wellbeing do not go in this cafe. Unlucky for them is that myself and partner are actually part time...
