Went to Bengal on a Friday evening and was shocked at the food let alone the service I had from two staff. Firstly one over speaking me and telling me what to order, been given flat coke twice insisting it was new bottle! Tho wouldn't try himself. And clearly could see was flat telling me he watched staff open new bottle! I've gone to Bengal for many years and the standard of food was very poor. When asked at the end of the meal in which I didn't eat, was everything alright. I kindly said it wasn't the normal I've had before.. I was told by staff "it's because your full" clearly upsetting me and telling me there wasn't a new chef. To top my evening there, the older man declared his people are always kind to the British and and know how to be with the British.. as you imagine I didn't say a response as that would be wrong! However never going there again and such a shame.. due to two unpleasant staff who many others have said are not nice and rude! With this review Bengal I would suggest training your staff in manners and listening...
Read moreWe arrived at 7 a party of 12 to celebrate a family members special birthday who had travelled a long way to see their family. We were one of the first people in there. We had puppadums to start and also ordered main food after asking for menu a couple of times, they eventually bought 4 menus for 12 people over. We ordered food at about 7.30 we did not get are food till 9.00pm!!! 2 hours after we arrived!!! People who arrived after us were getting served before us! Even another large party who came in after us! We kept being fobbed off saying you’ll be next, it will be about 5-10 minutes and then started avoiding our table. They gave us a couple of free drinks to apologise only after a couple of us went around and said that this isn’t good enough! but this should not of happened! Food was good though as normal......
Read moreAbsolutely shocking experience in this restaurant. The food quality is very poor. Worse than the food is the manager. When my partner complained on my behalf about a vegetable curry, ordered as a main that had three very small potatoes in it, about 5 green beans and was swimming in an oily curry sauce, the manager raised his voice to tell us: ''This is what a curry is. A curry is sauce''. My partner and I eat and cook a lot of curry from scratch and I come from an Indian background so I felt incredibly insulted. The chicken was dry - something that people who cook curry properly would know is almost impossible. The overall quality was poor - the ingredients and using sauce to appear to bulk up a dish. One of the waiters did apologise as we paid our bill but at that point it was too late to claw back our...
