Today was our first visit to ‘The honeypot cafe’ and I can assure you it will be our last!
We entered the cafe in hope of finding a seat indoors, however due to the lack of seats available we were asked to wait in the outdoor seating area. We were told that another customer was leaving in the next 5 minutes so we could be seated indoors. It turns out that we were forgotten about and our seat was given to somebody else...so we continued to eat/stay outside.
After waiting 20 minutes we were approached by a male member of staff who asked us ‘have you not ordered anything yet?’ At this point we ordered our drinks and our breakfast. After 15 minutes our drinks finally arrived. No sugar was offered with the coffee.
We waited over 40minutes for our meals to come out, expecting them to be ‘top noch’ due to the wait.. we were greeted with tough, stone cold food.
My partner was unwilling to wait even longer so continued to eat, however I wasn’t so accepting so I complained that my breakfast was cold for the waitress to state ‘I don’t know what we can do but I’ll take it back to the kitchen’. I waited another 20 minutes for them to re-serve me the same breakfast I sent back, but this time the whole breakfast was shrivelled up from where it had been reheated.. however I was assured it wasn’t heated in the microwave but the oven (as if that’s any better).
I couldn’t believe it! After not one single apology from any of the staff! I sent the food back at it’s unedible state and paid for the drinks and my partners meal. No discount was offered, instead the waitor tried to charge us another drink that we didn’t even have!
It’s safe to say, we won’t be going back and would not...
Read moreReally love this place. I am a newish customer of only a couple of months.
Booked a couple of tables there for groups of four or more. And always had a nice table.
Staff and owner are lovely and so friendly. Tables are cleaned down properly after every guest.
2 x toilets spotless and one fully disabled accessible.
I have only been there for breakfast. And sampled their big breakfast (full English) and fabulous Eggs Royale. Not many places get the sauce right. But these guys do!
My children have eaten there twice. And they do a mini children’s bacon and egg breakfast. I love their bread / toast as it’s proper bread. My children were not keen.
Also their menus state ‘Heinz baked beans’. Those beans are definitely not Heinz. That probably needs deleting from their menus to comply with trading standards. Beans were very bland. And everyone who had beans disliked them. That’s my only criticism. That and the erratic music choice. Which has varied from music torture to obscure.
Please buy better beans, and subscribe to more upbeat...
Read moreRegrettably this cafe was somewhat disappointing...From the outside The Honeypot Cafe looked warm and friendly but the service and food let it down. For 3 very thin sandwiches and 3 very small coffees the bill came to over £33! The young girl serving us seemed new to the job so we were understanding as clearly she hadn't received any training or guidance on taking food orders. Despite the recent increases in coffee prices, here, the volume has also been reduced! When eventually the coffees arrived it was in very small cups (a few sips and it was gone!) and not very hot, but we didn't like to fluster the server further. After another very long wait our sandwiches came and despite mentioning my food allergy when ordering, it was on my plate - luckily I noticed it in time. Phew! Rarely does one see such poorly made sandwiches with hardly any filling....
