The Mezze Turkish Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Arun

Me and the lads fancied something different, and The Mezze had come highly recommended, so why not, eh?

So, zero expectations. We were promptly greeted and seated, nice and friendly. The venue itself does look stunning, even to the point where it puts the rest of the arcade to shame and you feel like you're braving a Gotham back alley just to reach your dinner, but, I digress.

Lovely atmosphere, not too busy (Tuesday night in November, to be expected). The menu does need a bit of a read, so we took a while to order whilst we caught up, but had some lovely flatbread and dips while we waited for starters.

Sucuk and halloumi, and chicken liver to share, both of which were modest in size but really tasty. Bit of hummus with the aforementioned flatbread too - very much as you'd expect in that department, but definitely looking forward to our mains.

Turkish, so you'd best have a kebab, or is that too predictable? Lamb shish (for me), chicken shish and falafel main for my companions.

The dish was served on a sliver of pitta with rice and salad, and was utterly delicious. Soft, tasty lamb with excellent accompaniment, and company. We all commented the same, alongside the fact that we didn't feel bloated, thirsty, or overly spiced, if slightly garlicky.

Prices were moderately high, but you don't feel cheated because you've had thoroughly delicious food which is so much more than the posh takeaway you might have expected.

I will definitely be going back with my lady, and I know we'll both love the food as much as I did this first time. If you're unsure, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Mezze.

Nice restaurant that does very nice food but don't bother booking you are wasting your time. I booked a table at this restaurant for our Wedding Anniversary, we have eaten there before and the food is very good. Unfortunately the owner had overbooked, we arrived to find the restaurant was very full, with people also waiting at the bar. When the person running the restaurant had time to speak to us, I told him we had a reservation, he checked his appointment book left open on the bar. Then made a point of walking around the restaurant, (the couple at the bar said they also had made a reservation for the same time and they thought he had overbooked) the manager/owner then asked us if we would like a table outside, we declined. He asked us what we wanted to drink, I declined, I asked how long the wait was, he said it didn't look like anyone was getting ready to leave, so I said but we made a reservation which you accepted, he said that the people in the restaurant had over stayed their booking and he could not tell them to leave. Which would have been fair enough if the people in there were not waiting for food or eating starters. Went here on a Sunday evening with 3 others. Have been here before but not since it's refurb. Booked a table online, input your info & the restaurant get back to you to confirm if your request is available. On this occasion it was only 1/3 full & customers were not sat bunched together like some restaurants do when they're not full, this I liked. 2 servers on this night. Drinks, starters & mains came out in a timely fashion. They allowed a little breather before asking about desserts & coffee etc. Once finished, 2 of our party left & I had to ask for the bill, as no one was forthcoming to assist. The food as on my previous visits, were good sized portions & tasty, but not mind blowing spicy, in keeping with it being Turkish food. 4 people, 4 drinks, 4 starters, 3 mains (as 2 guests shared a main), 1 coffee & 2 desserts cost £128 & tip. I'm ok with the total as I'm not a born & bred local, I've only lived here 12 years, but I think this may be a bit pricey for some locals despite this being a decent restaurant.
