We hired the Woolpack barn for our wedding in Sept 2024 and we are so happy that we did! ||We had the most INCREDIBLE time. Everything went so smoothly thanks to Charlie, Duane and the whole team at the Woolpack.||The venue is a beautiful English barn, conveniently positioned in the centre of Tenterden town meaning guests could arrange accommodation nearby and it’s within walking distance of the church where we had our ceremony.||We had full flexibility with decorating the barn which we were able to do the day before. It didn’t need much as the barn/venue itself has a lot of character which we loved! Charlie recommended Village Vintage Hire who we hired the rustic banquet tables and chairs from for 90 people. These worked well in the barn, matching the vibe.||As local wedding venues go, we were so impressed with the price of the venue hire and the food and wine packages available, there's a lot of flexibility with your choice of food and drink depending on the size/ style of your wedding. There was no hire fee meaning it was more than reasonably priced for the quality of food, wine, and service we received.||The food and wine was delicious!! Charlie hosted a food and wine tasting before the wedding and we chose a three-course wedding breakfast. They accommodated our guests’ dietaries very well. We loved the food, especially the vegetarian options including a delicious truffle mushroom risotto. Massive thanks to the head chef and kitchen team! The wine went down really well too. We opted for the indulgent drinks package with the Leslie Reserve Gold Brut for our toast. ||There is a great garden area next to the barn where we had our reception drinks and canapés on arrival. The festoon lighting looked very pretty in the evening too. There is also a brilliant climbing frame for kids which kept our flower girls entertained all day allowing their parents to enjoy the party!||After the wedding breakfast, the team cleared away the tables and the band set up for the evening party. Everything went seamlessly thanks to the team’s hard work. We also had hot canapés in the evening, which again, our guests said they really enjoyed!||The rooms at the Woolpack were reserved for our guests and we stayed in Nanette’s Rose, the bed was super comfortable, and we really enjoyed breakfast the next morning. The lady serving us was lovely.||We can’t thank the Woolpack team enough! Everyone working in preparation and throughout the celebrations were so kind. They all worked so hard, going above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Our guests have commented since the wedding about how attentive the team were, no one wanted for anything and there were no queues at the bar. We are so grateful to the whole team. A massive thank you to you all!||We just loved it from start to finish, and our guests have all said how much fun they had too....
Read moreWe've ate here a few times and had a great meal, however we popped in yesterday for some Sunday lunch and disappointed, undervalued as customers is an understatement. The blonde male bartender when we first entered was dry as a bone with us. Informed us we'd have to wait up to an hour for food when the place was evidently not packed. The bar was empty and only a few in the outdoor /restaurant area. Seemed like he could really be bothered talking to us or serving at all. He then went on to discuss someone negatively to a fellow barmaid whilst serving us. We overlooked this and went outside into the beer garden to have a drink in the sun and wait an hour on our food. This is where our experience went from bad to worse. We ordered our food and after a short wait, it arrived and looked delicious, that's when I discovered my chicken had a thick short black hair on it. I explained to the waitress who whisked the food away without comment or apology. When she came back she told me the chef said he doesn't know how that happened and 'it could have came from anywhere' and insinuating that it was our fault (I've long blonde hair so definitely unlikely). The young brunette waitress was unapologetic and again seemed bored and lacked any customer service whatsoever. Abruptly asked what I wanted. Then we had to barter at the bar to get it removed from the bill. In the end I didn't not eat at all.
The entire experience was horrible, the customer service in this place needs drastic overhaul.
Sorry to say we will be striking the Woolpack off our list of places to visit while...
Read moreWe stayed one night and had the family suite in the loft with our two young children.||The room itself was good in that there is plenty of space and the kids were able to have their own separate room - comfy beds, pillows etc. the separate little room with a tv in is also a nice touch, and the bathroom is good.||However, generally we felt the whole room seemed a bit tired. The carpet is pretty dirty and that can be really off-putting, and although the fan provided helped to make the main bedroom less stuffy it still feels a bit claustrophobic without much character to it. The pub itself is so full of character, it feels like this room lets it down.||Having said all that - the service was superb, and more than made up for the room. Luke checked us in and was very friendly, accommodating us without issue in putting our son’s medication in the fridge for us overnight. The chap who served us at dinner (apologies, not sure of his name!) was charming and attentive throughout. And although we had an early start and couldn’t stay for breakfast, the young lady who checked us out was incredibly helpful and made sure we left with complimentary coffees to take away with us. Being that cheery and welcoming at 7.30am is commendable!||Dinner was good too, a nice burger and excellent fish and chips - plus a selection of games and puzzles etc for kids to do while they waited.||All in all, would come back for the food and the service - but probably wouldn’t stay in the...
