Although a Modern building from the outside, the parking area needs some updating, 4 disabled places at the front, an uneven area at the rear, accessed to the side of the building, which looks like it is linked to the external buildings behind the Tandoori Hut, not the restaurant. Better signage, and some evening of surface perhaps!! Once inside, met by a Manager or Maitre D and was asked to wait in the Bar area, and possibly purchase a drink. This we did, took a seat, Bar person brought the drinks over and said " Do you want them added to your take- away bill"? We advised that we were eating in, at that point he apologised. Bearing in mind it was Sunday evening and not busy we were kept waiting 20 minutes for a Table,in between asked whether we would like to order, as well as another apology. When eventually shown to our Table, we were not asked to order straight away, another 5 minutes plus passed. The Staff are not engaging, and the atsmosphere is non existent, just some piped Indian Music. The Bar Person appeared a couple of times, but did not ask people on our Table or other Tables whether anymore drinks were required. The restaurant does not charge a flat rate for sundries such as dips and poppadums, these are charged individually. Although we did not have any intros!! When our meal came, it was presented well, and tasted very nice, but lacked the wow factor!! After all most Indian restaurants deliver on the food front, unless there is something drastically wrong. The thing that let's the restaurant down is atsmosphere and service. I want to go out and be greeted well, made to feel welcome and special, not parked and ignored, to the side. Service seems to be lacking in quite a few establishments in the Wakefield/ Barnsley area, not just this place. Get the service right and instead of being average to good, then in my opinion you move up into the very good to excellent category. This establishment was recommended, and although the food was good, I will not hurry back, as there are places nearer to me that deliver...
Read moreWe have been visiting this restaurant for the past five years, and during that time, it’s gone through some significant renovations. The new decor looks fantastic, and the space feels much more modern and inviting. The staff, as always, are friendly and attentive, which has been a consistent during our visits.
However, there have been some noticeable changes over the years that have sadly made us rethink our loyalty. The restaurant’s closing time is 10 PM, but it’s become increasingly apparent that if you arrive after 8 PM, you’re met with an unfriendly attitude and told that there’s limited time left for your meal. This makes for an unpleasant experience and doesn’t reflect the warm and friendly atmosphere the restaurant used to have.
What’s even more disappointing is the decline in food quality. What was once a go-to spot for great curry has now become a place where the food feels bland and, at times, inedible due to its bitter spiciness. It’s a real shame because we used to love dining here. Now, we find ourselves opting to travel further to places that offer both excellent service and tasty meals.
Unfortunately, we won’t be returning anytime soon as during our last five or six visits/takeaways the food was really poor. It’s a pity, as this restaurant used to be great and it is on our doorstep but sadly we just have to make more of an effort if we want to have a curry...
Read moreFirstly food was lovely and I genuinly mean that, probably one of the nicest I've had in a while, service was spot on very friendly and polite, big place so not all squashed together. Very professional.
Bit pricey mind, 4 people but shared meals had 1 drink each (Pepsi and lemonades) and 2 small starters and 2 curries 2 chips 2 rice and 2 poppadoms oh and a massive naan to share in total over 70 quid bill but worth it for a treat for sure.
Parking isn't great though as not many spaces purely down to being busy at a guess, I think the staff use spaces out front which is a share for people who can't walk well but not a major issue at all really.
Toilets was clean.
Decor .... the wallpaper is a bit much, bit dark and way too busy kept sending our eyes funny but rest is nice just that crazy paper lol.
Would I go again ? ..... absolutely it really was that nice but might be more for occasions rather than just nipping out with mates.
Was helpful to see disability services as I have a big issue with walking.
Would take alot of trips to taste everything on the menu it's massive which isn't great for me but that's personal preference really I just don't like to be flooded with things I have no idea what they are haha but yeah...
