Me and my grandparents game for a meal here, they have been before but I havenât ever been. The parking is slim pickings but thereâs plenty of places about to have a little walk up or down. I had a BLT which was wonderful and light, it was on ciabatta with fresh salad, they even popped me some cheese on, it came with salad AND chips which were delicious and clearly home made. My grandma had the lamb bourguignon which she said just melted in her mouth and didnât have the chance to chew, it came with truffled mash which was gorgeous and smooth. My grandad had the pie which looked to be nearly half of a homemade pie, which had (real quote from grandad) âplenty of meat which was beautiful tender and not that many potatoes, as thatâs what you pay forâ - too right, it also came with the homemade chips. None of us finished our meals but that is at no fault to the chef or food, but because you well and truly do get what you pay for; The prices of this establishment reflect brilliant food with great customer service and well looked after amenities such as the toilets upstairs which were very clean and tidy (enough to notice and mention in the review evidently) and the outdoor seating area that has plenty of benches/ tables with chairs to sit at, again very neat and tidy. I would certainly return here again when in the area as the options feel much nicer than your...
Read moreGREAT SERVICE, GREAT FOOD. We have had 3 meals in The Crown elsecar in the past couple of months, not bad going as we're travelling from South Rotherham. Last night we took our sister for a belated birthday meal. We ordered 2 briskets and a pie. One of the briskets was spot on and just dropped to pieces but the other seemed dry and difficult to cut. We mentioned this to the barman and it was exchanged straight away, sadly the replacement was the same and the lady who was serving agreed it wasn't to the usual standard. Our sister decided to order the pie instead and it was delicious. The brisket being a bit tough was nobody's fault (blame the cow). The service we received was faultless, our disappointment was addressed immediately and the staff resolved the issue swiftly. I think it reflects well on establishments who resolve problems without any fuss and to everyone's satisfaction. They even gave us a small discount on our bill even though we didn't ask for one and told them it wasn't necessary. We'll done The Crown. We...
Read morePopped into The Crown in Elsecar on a quiet Monday lunch, and let me tell you, this place may have had a refurb, but itâs kept its soul. The new look is fresh and inviting, with cozy lighting
The beer garden is a little oasis, perfectly sized, surrounded by trees, and begging for a lazy afternoon with a cocktail.
I ordered the BLT (ÂŁ10), and Iâm still thinking about it! Toasted ciabatta with just the right crunch, a glorious mountain of bacon, fresh salad, and homemade chips that had no right being that good. Normally, Iâd request mustard, but I was too swept up in the moment to remember, thatâs how good this sandwich was.
My teenage son ordered the nachos and was gloriously defeated. He loved every bite, even if he needed a lie-down afterward.
Service from Hannah was perfect, friendly, fast, and genuinely welcoming. If we lived nearby, weâd be back in a flash for the Thursday Quiz and Saturday DJ. But alas, weâre just visiting. fantastic food, charming pub, and a refurb done right. Well done, Crown. You've...
