I've been popping in to the Pantry for a "Café stop" while out on my bike ride for a couple of years now. Its roughly half way so just right. It's a lovely place to sit outside (if the weather is good) and enjoy what I believe to be the best scones you'll find anywhere in the UK. Home made, just sweet enough, lovely light & fluffy in the middle, perfect! The ladies who work there are always very nice, always there for a chat. The café is situated within the heritage centre grounds, tucked away in a sheltered corner. Inside is nice and cosy too. Prices are OK. About £6 for cream tea, you really can't grumble at that. There’s lots of good cafes around these days if you look hard enough but what makes this place stand out from the rest (apart from the coffee) Is they really make you feel welcome here and actually care about their customers. I was that difficult customer this morning - I’d asked for a certain drink but wasn’t clear on the specifics, I’m quite picky about my drinks and asked if it could be changed, the manager went above and beyond to sort out my drink and really made mine and mums morning with her kindness. Read moreWent with my mum and had a baguette when it came we were expecting a side salad of lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber but what we got was a dollop of coleslaw. When we opened the sandwich there was only a very thin layer of egg mayo. We did question why they were no salad but the waitress said it usually gets thrown away so we don't order any, this was very poor value for £6 25. So
