It was a nice, pleasant, easy stay, staff are very friendly without being overbearing or intrusive.
I had to pay for parking, but it was only £2.20 for the entire night. Price was fair, would definitely use again for work visits.
The Car Park is directly attached to the premier Inn hotel although it is owned and operated by a separate company called Castons. You cannot pay for the car park inside the hotel, you have to pay for the car park when you arrive via the machines on the car park, both cash and card are accepted.
The room was clean, tidy and exactly what you would expect of a Premier Inn room.
The bed was comfortable although charging my phone and iPad was awkward due to the socket positions available in relation to the position of the bed.
Although in order to get a decent internet connection you will need to pay for a 24 hour upgrade. You will need this if you intend to connect to Netflix, Amazon, Disney plus, sky or any television application. Whenever your streaming basically.
There is a menu available for food, although it is very limited. A menu will be provided in the room for your perusal.
I decided to order a take away due the limited and dry nature of the menu. Due to the central location of the hotel food tends to arrive quickly.
There are lifts but the stairs are easily accessible and often quicker when your room is on the lower floors of the hotel
Breakfasts are available but it is better to pre book it for a set time.
The rooms temperature can be moderated inside the room via a temperature control panel on the wall in the room.
The bathroom is ample size. However when getting in and out of the shower the floor can be slippy so please make sure you hold the wall fixture when entering and exiting the bath or shower.
The shampoo and body wash provided is not very good, so it's always a good idea to bring your own.
A small tea tray is provided in the room but there are no biscuits which I found to be disappointing.
The TV selection is very limited, I would always recommend you bring your own entertainment as the TV has HDMI slots available which can be accessed via the input button on the television remote control.
There is not that much you can do around Basingstoke on a night time, so it's always best to plan your evening entertainment ahead of time.
There is a small restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel.
Overall I enjoyed the stop here, it was efficient with no messing around or faffing around. This was a business trip, I would not chose to stop here for a personal...
Read moreStayed here for work for a night. Location is great for the centre of Basingstoke and there is free on site parking on a first come first served basis. I arrived a half hour early but couldn't check-in early as no-one was available and the automatic check-in wouldn't work until 3pm. I could have rang for a member of staff but couldn't be bothered paying the supplement for 30 minutes so sat in my car for half an hour.
Check-in was simple, and my room.was on the first floor. The room was clean and comfortable though windows don't open and the aircon is fixed to a min 19 degress which in the current heat is not cool enough. I managed to sleep well though despite the heat.
I ordered the meal.deal and dined in the hotel for convenience more than anything though there are many options within 5 minutes walk from the hotel that offer much better food. I ordered the bhaji burger which came without its yorghurt coleslaw topping and tasted like it had been reheated, the fries were fresh but only just cooked through, though the salad was nice enough. Breakfast was better and the veggie options were cooked perfectly rather than the usual burnt to a crisp I've had in other Premier Inns.
Overall not a bad experience, service was fine though my dessert of fruit salad was forgotten.about and I ended up dining for well over an hour for 2 courses which seems crazy when the bulk of that was salads!
Dining tables are very sticky, probably as a result of cleaning product residue than dirt but either way it needs looking at and the corridors had a weird sweaty smell to them like the vacuum needed its bag changing.
Blackout curtains didn't work well either as light came in from the bottom, summers in the UK it gets light about 4am so you really need decent blackout curtains.
Yes Id come again as beds are comfy and breakfast is usually good, I just wouldn't bother eating in the restaurant again knowing there are many other...
Read moreThe staff are kind, welcoming and happy to go the extra mile. Beds are comfortable and rooms are well kept.
I stayed here for 2 weeks mon-fri only, and noise was minimum.
Week 1 was good apart from the fact that quite a lot of the television channels weren't accessible, I also found the free Internet did not actually give me access to the Internet which was frustrating as I needed to use my laptop. The option to pay for the better one for £5 per day didn't appeal to me as there is no safe way to pay, i.e PayPal, plus I thought I paid quite enough on booking! I ended up using the hotspot on my phone.
The 2nd week, there was a towel left in my room that had what looked like blood on it. Not ideal. The Internet I was hoping would be better as was on a different floor but again...no Internet available so I feel the advertisement of free WiFi is somewhat misleading.
No fridges in the room....not even a small one and when on a business trip a fridge really is crucial. Ended up filling the bathroom sink with cold water and floating my essentials in there but this wasn't great. I guess in a way this isn't available so you can be tempted to eat in the restaurant...however this wasn't the case for me I just ate out as it was cheaper.
After 2 weeks I found another hotel with a pool, fridges and high speed Internet for a similar price! So the other 3 weeks I am here will instead be spent there.
This is in no way a reflection on the staff at the premier inn. They are all lovely, do their job brilliantly and are incredibly welcoming. I would highly recommend for a night or two stay. But any longer I feel is not suitable unless...
