Authentic food, really, really good service, cute restaurant, reasonably priced.
Service was excellent, originally we were seated at a small table and mentioned politely that if a larger one was available we would love to take it, through the evening the girls kept looking and updating us and just before our mains were served we were moved to a larger table. The staff made us feel very welcomed and were more than happy to explain the dishes if needed.
We had Chilli duck spring rolls, Tempura vegetables and Dim sum to start, the vegetables were a little al dente for my liking but the flavours were great, the duck spring rolls and the dim sum were lovely.
For mains we sampled the King Prawn Nam Makham and the Weeping Tiger dish. Beware the prawns came shell on which is traditional for this cuisine, this was tough for me to stomach but the dish was amazing in flavour and presentation.
Will definitely be coming back and will be sampling the takeaway...
Read moreThe Lime Leaf is a quaint venue with multiple small rooms in a multistorey refasioned town house.
The menue is authentic and the food speaks for itself.
We had 2 starters , the sweetcorn cakes and the vegetable spring rolls.
The sweetcorn cakes are better than other locations that we have tried and the spring rolls were crisp, yet dense insides with cabbage .
We both had the yellow curry with potatoes, the balance of flavours was lovely to say the least.
There was unfortunately no bread or bread rolls to be had and the roti was not vegan .
I would most certainly go back , but there is one draw back to this quaint eatery..
The noise, the climber clatter and din of the other dinners carried so well that we had to wear loops.
We are a euro divergent couple, so we are not blaming anyone for this , we are meerly pointing it out should this be an issue for...
Read moreThe food was delicious but sadly the service was really slow. We booked 1.5 hours before we were due to be somewhere and we had to end up getting our mains to takeaway as it took so long to arrive. A table sat after us were served first, they ate and left before we even got our mains. Our drinks came about 20 mins after we were sat. We had a really simple starter each, but our mains took about 45 mins to arrive after that so I think our order must have gotten lost. The atmosphere was a bit chaotic despite there being plenty of staff and it wasn't that busy. Would recommend and would likely go back, but was a disappointing first experience.
Glad that basingtoke has an independent restaurant though and love Thai food! We had pad Thai and pineapple beef rice, really tasty. Chicken satay starter was...
