The food we were served was masterly cooked and presented, so much so that it required no additional seasoning at all. This is rather unusual for me, as I often find food too bland in this country. Both the beef and the salmon were moist and tender. The vegetables were cooked just right; they were not the soggy overcooked mess or the raw tasteless greens I often get in other eateries. The bread was surely baked in house, as no supermarket or catering supplier offers such crunchy and tasty bread rolls here! The soufflé was perfectly risen (and I know how difficult that is to achieve!). The forest fruit sorbet, the soufflé and the beetroot chocolate cake were sweet on point, and this comes from someone who doesn’t use sugar anymore. We found the petit fours and the macaroons too sweet instead. Maybe it would be worth having a low-sugar option for customers with palates that are very sensitive to sugar? It took a while to get all those dishes ready, but that’s understandable in a training environment. Also, it would have been nice to have a tablecloth, it would make the dinner a classier experience! As per the table service, the various students who served us were really doing their best. One student was visibly nervous and lost for words at times (bless him!), but he persevered (kudos for his resilience!). It would be nice if the servers could share with diners some details about the food they serve, as to appreciate better the efforts made in the kitchen. An overall very pleasant dinner on the same quality level of other local prestigious restaurants such as The Oak Room...

Grouse to start, sole and black ink gnocchi followed by a boozy black cherry desert.
Restaurant is inside a college building so whilst nicely fitted out its still in a college building.
Service was very polite and friendly although we had one mishap when a glass of wine was delivered to the table and dropped. Fortunately I have dark clothes on and we were able to mop things up and move to another table.
When we went to pay as we were leaving they advised the bill had been waved which was an unexpected gesture and well received.
We will be back again - probably to try out one of the...
