Food used to be alright in here years ago for a greasy spoon but last few times haven’t been great, today went in there and ordered burger, chips, beans for me, 3yr old had kids fish fingers and chips, partner had gourmet burger chips and mushrooms, and 13yr old had just a apple crumble and custard. Took 30mins to arrive (drinks were Luke warm no ice coke) burger was ok but chips looked and tasted like they were cooked in dirty oil 3rd chip I got a mouthful of oil which put me off (don’t get put off easily) so ended up eating burger and beans, ketchup I wouldn’t even call ketchup doesn’t taste like one and was orange 🤮 3yr old fish finger was very crispy and she took one bite and said it was burnt - coming from a 3yr old - partner was put off by the ketchup and mushrooms that just tasted like she was eating balls of oil (she is 9mths pregnant today so gets put off easily), 13yr old stopped eating hers as she said she didn’t like the custard and couldn’t seem to find the apple, they walked out disappointed leaving virtually all the food on the plates. I complained to the waitress who just said oh. I walked out but then decided to go back in to challenge the fact I was charged £30 for virtually nothing as it wasn’t edible. I was met by the chef/manager (at least she said she was the manager) I expressed my disappointment and her answer was she had changed the oil yesterday and that no one else had complained today, she asked what I wanted done and I just told her I wasn’t happy that I was charged £30 for something that was not enjoyable she repeatedly asked what I wanted done not offering a resolution or apology just said no one else had complained, in the end I said I’m happy to pay half so she took £15 out of the till and almost threw it at me then saying that if it was another manager they most likely would have refused to refund me anything. Being a truck driver I’ve eaten plenty of cafe food but this is the worst experience by staff and food I...
Read morePopped into Mr Munch today while I was in town—it’s right by my fave nail salon, so I couldn’t resist checking it out! It had that proper café vibe I love: great value prices, a warm atmosphere, and the kind of place that feels instantly welcoming. ☕🥔
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted and seated with a smile—super quick and friendly service, which instantly gives it brownie points from me. The place was really clean and the staff? Genuinely lovely and went above and beyond.
I ordered a jacket potato with cheese and beans, plus a vanilla latte. The potato was huge (no complaints there!) but I did feel like it needed a bit more bean-to-potato ratio to keep it from being a bit dry. No drama though—the owner whipped up an extra portion of beans in a flash and didn’t charge a penny extra. I was honestly so impressed and grateful 🙌
As for the latte—big tick ✔️ It was a great portion and I could actually taste the vanilla, unlike some high street chains where it tastes like someone just whispered the word “vanilla” over the cup 😂
My husband had a full fry-up and said the sausages and eggs were bang on. He was a happy man!
Only small critique? It was a scorcher of a day and I would have loved if the air con had been on, but to be fair they did keep the door open to let the breeze through, so it wasn’t unbearable.
All in all, I’d...
Read moreI can’t believe this place is CASH ONLY after all the years it has been in town ☹️ my son went in there with his friend and ordered food and after eating it he went to pay for it not realising it’s CASH ONLY and most kids today pay by phone or card as they don’t carry cash anymore 😬 so my partner had to travel across town from Popley in rush hour to pay for his food which she wasn’t happy about 😡 so as much as I’ve always liked your food in the past I definitely won’t be coming back as I don’t like TAX DODGERS and I really think you needs to make it CLEARER to people that there’s no facility for electronic payment when they orders their food or maybe it’s time to catch up with everyone else that’s now having to change to this...
