A 'Top of Town' local that has had more of its fair share of ups and downs. Now, thankfully, it has settled down and under the careful stewardship of Geoff, himself an ale drinker, it has been awarded an entry in the 2020 CAMRA Good Beer Guide. Ales are West Country sourced from Butcombe, Otter and Sharps. The pub is wet led, that is, it does not do food, although there was a brief flirtation early in 2019 with a fish & chip collaboration. This is a vibrant local, not to everyone's taste - large screen TVs can dominate if there is a match being played, and there is a Pool table towards the far end of the pub. We visited this bank holiday and what an amazing establishment this is.
Staff are super friendly, breakfast is cooked to higher standards and very large portions. The continental bar was being topped up with beautifully fresh pastries that were still warm from the oven.
We then returned for a beautiful roast dinner and again no complaint. The honey and mustard chipolatas are very moreish and again the staff were wonderfully attentive.
