We visited on Saturday afternoon — two adults and three children. Under the restaurant name, it says “Japanese and Nepalese food,” and with sushi and ramen on the menu, we naturally assumed it was a Japanese restaurant or at least served Japanese-style dishes.
I specifically told the staff at the counter that we needed one chicken ramen served first, as my daughter was hungry. When the ramen arrived, she took one bite and immediately said it was too spicy. She loves noodles, so she tried to keep eating, but only managed to get through a third of the bowl. My friend’s child — who cannot eat spicy food at all — couldn’t touch theirs, and they had to swap meals. I couldn’t do the same, because I had ordered prawn rolls, which my daughter doesn’t eat.
When I explained to the staff that the ramen was too spicy for children, they insisted that ramen is “supposed to be spicy.” I disagreed — ramen is traditionally not spicy unless stated clearly, and any dish that contains chili should be marked accordingly on the menu, especially when it’s something children might order. I also reminded them that I had mentioned it was for a child when ordering.
To my surprise, the staff insisted they were “not a Japanese restaurant,” which was confusing since they sell sushi and ramen, and their listing includes “Japanese” in the description. This raised concerns that the restaurant may be using the Japanese label to maintain the old business’s reputation and reviews — especially since most of the past reviews (dating over six months back) clearly refer to a different operation.
When I asked if the ramen could be refunded, the staff said no, but offered to replace it with a kids’ meal (chicken nuggets and chips), which we reluctantly accepted just to avoid further argument.
To be fair, as we were leaving, another staff member came over and said they would refund the ramen. I simply replied “OK” because by then I really didn’t want to continue the discussion.
The entire experience was disappointing — not just because of the spicy food being unsuitable for children without proper labeling, but because of the way the situation was handled. I hope the restaurant takes customer feedback seriously and improves transparency in their menu and communication. Families with children should be...

We came for lunch on an off chance, having heard about this place but not knowing much. I'm a meat-eater and my partner is a vegetarian, which usually leads to some subpar dining experiences for her - and we were delighted to find out this wasn't the case with Always Sushi. Their vegan sushi box was delicious, fresh and thoughtfully put together with complex flavours. And the tofu gyoza we ordered was crisp and flavoursome. As far as vegetarian dining goes, this is easily the best in the area. That's not to knock the fish, either. My salmon was fresh, silky and delicately flavoured.
The restaurant itself is small but comfortable. Takeout is an option, but this does not impede on the dine-in experience.
The standard for eating in Worksop just got significantly higher for us, and we'll surely...
Read moreAbsolutely delicious and a quick delivery. I’m a vegetarian and there were many options for me. Everything was fresh and delicious. I will be back regularly. Supermarket sushi has officially been ruined for me as this is the best sushi I’ve had.
I do have one suggestion, it would be great to have a soft cheese vegetarian sushi. As I found the options to either be vegan or have soft cheese and seafood in them, by doing this I feel it would increase vegetarian options even more😊
Thank you for the wonderful meal! I...
