We went for my other half’s birthday we were seated in the restaurant. There was only a table of four in there with us. We ordered our drinks and our food and had to wait about 20 minutes for our drinks. We asked the waiter how long it will be for our drinks this was only a beer and a Pepsi. He said that they were just making them now. This should not have taken 20 minutes after an hour past we still hadn’t got our starters so again we asked the waiter how long this will be five minutes later the starters come out I think they forgot to put the order in. We had the chilli garlic prawns and the calamari. These were both rubbery but we was hungry so ate them anyway We had to wait another half an hour for our mains and again asked how long this would take as at this point we was just wanting to leave so if the food hadn’t been cooked we was going to pay and leave we was told they were plating ours now so we waited when our mains came. We had two steaks and two sides of lobster tail and 2 peppercorn sauces. The plates were chipped. The menu says this comes with a parsnip, crisp and vine tomatoes. There was no parsnip crisp and no vine tomatoes. We just had tomatoes that looks like the cheap ones from Aldi. The steak was cooked okay by this point our experience was already bad. My lobster tail came and it was stone cold in the middle so I sent this back and the waiter said I will get you another one. I didn’t want another one as I wasn’t prepared to wait another 30 minutes my boyfriends Lobster didn’t even arrive so we had both of them taken off the bill. The peppercorn sauce was served in small ramekins. However, I have seen pictures that other people have posted where the sources are in jugs. We was looking forward to this meal but was really disappointed and it spoiled my boyfriend‘s birthday. The system led us to believe that there were very few tables available and so we booked a slot which was available and slightly earlier than we would have liked. We booked for the restaurant and paid a deposit. When we arrived, we genuinely thought the place was closed with a worker sat at one of the tables on his phone who told us, without even attempting to crack a smile, to go to the pub side. We went over thinking it would be a hive of activity but alas, it too seemed as though we were intruding with not one other customer and three FOH people chatting at the bar and looking at us as though we had just arrived from Mars. We gave our name for the booking and they all looked shocked and checked a tablet for our booking. We took a table and placed our orders which were quick to arrive. The steak was ok, I’ve had better, I’ve also had worse but the chips were soggy yet overcooked and I can only assume were reheated by microwave. The food is not bad but it certainly isn’t worthy of £38 per dish. The FOH team were ok but just very inexperienced, not knowing what a pale ale was??…but they were friendly once they’d got past the shock of seeing a customer. The atmosphere however was awful. The place was cold with my partner keeping her coat on throughout the meal and the music was off one moment, on the next, then turned up loud, then off again. The whole experience was just awkward. We arrived,were served, ate up, paid and were back home all within the space of an hour as we just didn’t want to stay. In summary….FOH team ok, food overpriced, management or kitchen (whoever was sat on their phone) team ignorant, atmosphere was as cold as the heating system. The cutlery’ is disgustin ! Looks like some one had just used it??? Really bad, I also looked at the cutlery on other tables,, have photos, ? the young waitress said , They have a new waitress!!!! Table kept rocking! Tried so hard to put napkins under the feet? Wot is it with ,, our food is great but the restaurant tables, cutlery, etc is not to standard , But hey that’s fine!
