The Galway Arms Retford — Restaurant in Bassetlaw

I LOVE this pub! In a world of modern bars and generic 'gastro' pubs The Galway Arms has remained true and nowadays it is one of the only 'proper' pubs left in Retford which in itself makes it a rather special place.

On a Saturday and Sunday you can get the very best brekkie for miles around (in my opinion). Choosing either full English or full Scottish as well as other options, the price is very reasonable and the portions very generous but most crucially of all the quality of the ingredients is top notch and you can literally 'taste the difference' (sorry Sainsbury's! 👀😆).

Good beer; on draught or otherwise and a great atmosphere with live music a regular occurrence as well as numerous large and smaller screens broadcasting sports.

Outdoors there's a pleasant and well maintained patio and smoking area including under cover areas and snug, comfortable seating with heaters as well as plenty of parking available.

What's not to love? I'd give it more than five...

We were in the Galway Arms pub Saturday night with friends and had a very enjoyable night, there was a live band playing, the beer was very good and it had a nice friendly atmosphere. Returned in the morning to try the breakfast which was very good as well, i had the full English which was just perfect for soaking up last nights beer. Would highly recommend and will defiantly pop in the next time we are in Retford

Definitely the best local in Retford, landlord, landlady and all the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Excellent breakfast provided at the weekend and other bar meals are delicious and will cater for any buffet function you require throughout the week. Superb choice of beer, lager, wines and ciders along with numerous spirits and shots if you are in the mood and they have Sky Sports and BT Sport available on 5 screens inside plus one outside in the...
