I was here at a party in the back room. There was also a family fun day event going on outside, planned by the pub.
There was clearly a lack of a staff. It was a complete shambles. There was supposed to be a list of food available for the kids beforehand, but ended up being written 2 hours after the party started - at the point the list was created it was said there was a long wait on food, when we would have pre-booked when we had a list. The bar was busy due to the family fun event and staff were stuck with only one member behind the bar at points. Drinks took nearly 25 mins to get due to the lack of staff.
There’s no real excuse for the lack of staff; the party was pre-booked and obviously the family fun event was planned - it’s not like it was a surprise influx of customers. The staff were trying their best but seems completely poor planning/management.

The mom was told there would be a list to choose from that would be available “for Sunday”; which she asked for on arrival but did not receive for hours, so could not order any food until that point.
I didn’t comment on the speed of the food from the kitchen once finally able to order as that was not an issue; the issue was the lack of bar staff able to serve drinks, where people going to get drinks ended up disappearing for almost 30 minutes trying to get them.
The mom may have been happy (or simply courteous) by the end, but this is my review not hers - when we spent the afternoon running around trying to resolve things that should have not needed resolving if the pub had people available that weren’t run off their feet.

Read morefood wise it has gone downhill big time since taken over. Décor and choice of drinks is better. After ordering our food we were told there would be up to an hour wait, which we were OK with. Our starters arrived after about 45 mins Garlic Mushrooms x2. Think they were around £3.60 each, there were about 7 each with no salad, my partners actually was 5 mushrooms with 2 cheap chicken nuggets accidently mixed in. There were 2 other tables near us one had around 12 people on it. We noticed that they were complaining because of the way the food was sent out to them. An hour had passed since the first had received their order and there were still guests waiting for their course. What did come out really lacked presentation and looked poor. They got fed up of waiting and the ones that hadn't been fed asked for their money back. On another Table behind us, They were also sick of waiting. Their kids were restless and after waiting an hour and a half they too asked for their money back. We decided to do the same. After we complained about our starters the lady walked off and said sorry I will get you another mushroom which never appeared. Not too bothered about that but do feel there maybe a problem with cross contamination in there.. Would recommend for a beer and watch the footie, but doubt I will be returning for food unless things improve. I know it's Christmas, but apart from our 3 tables there really wasn't anyone else eating. It was not that busy. This is the 3rd time I have visited with similar poor service in the past 6 months. My partner visited with her sister a month ago and they totally lost their order. So this is NOT an isolated incident. Read moreI had two friends go for a meal and they experienced a terrible evening here, which is especially bad given that it was one of their birthdays on that day.
They ordered a vegetarian taco which was described as having avocado, grilled peppers, red onion, herbs, fresh chillies and lettuce, but what actually came was a taco with brown soggy rocket and peppers.
After they asked the waitress to exchange their taco for another one thinking it was an accident they were told they couldn’t. After then asking if they could have their refund they were told they couldn’t have that either, and were even accused of being “harsh” on their wait staff after all they did was ask for better food that was actually advertised on the menu, or a refund on the meal.
This waitress I must add had a terrible attitude being sarcastic, outspoken and sassy all the while flicking her hair around ridiculously.
From here they found out the kitchen manager refused to cook them another. The actual manager came over and tried to intimidate them being boisterous, essentially telling them they can’t have no refund or no replacement for their food therefore they were left with anaemic chicken wings which were really nicely seasoned albeit skinny, and the halloumi fries which were “mid”. Which for £12 is a shambles.
It’s a shame really as they were excited for the pub quiz and the food, but were left hungry and shaken from this experience.
I would like to see an apology from the manager for such an upsetting experience and I wish people have a better experience in the future going here.
