My siblings and I decided to attend this franchise for a birthday celebratory dessert. When entering, we were greeted by an employee. We told them there were 5 of us and they placed us in the corner under a slanted wooded ceiling; in order to sit we had to duck and go under as the ceiling in the corner was low. When we all sat, the seats had a wooden back which was uncomfortable and there was not enough space for all of us to move; it was not roomy for 5 grown people which is why we enquired to move upstairs when there was space available. We called a waiter over to put in our enquiry. The waiter then informed us that the upstairs seating "Was for niqabi wearing women or other people such as large families". There was 5 of us, we fit the criteria of a large group. Apparently, and I quote "Women wearing a niqab want privacy so they go up there". This is ridiculous. How is it that women that wear a niqab should receive better service. Fair enough, you don't want to be receiving attention from people but why can they sit separately and look down at us? Their men can stare at women not wearing a niqab but it's unjustified for others to glance at a niqabi. As a Muslim woman within this country, I receive my share of negative comments when walking anywhere. I should be able to eat in an Asian area, without being discriminated due to showing my face. While there, my siblings and I were eating, not looking around. People go to food places to eat, not look at niqabi women. If we were seated in a comfortable, spacious environment such as upstairs where there were lots of seats available then maybe our experience would have great there. The service was horrendous, the waiters were discriminating against us as we weren't niqabi women which made us feel horrible as we felt out of place. The food could have been better as my bubble gum sundae had one scoop of bubble gum ice cream, the whole jar of marshmallows with a digestive biscuit at the bottom. That is not a bubble gum sundae. That's soggy marshmallow with a biscuit; a child's creation. In conclusion, horrible service and low quality food. To improve, try inclusion. If people want privacy then going to a food place where people eat is not the best...
Read moreVERY UNHAPPY! This was our second visit to JAM JAR. First time we went it was ok, the food quality and service was average not too bad thats why we went again yesterday. Waited at the front (waiting area)for about 10mins. The staff ignored us and then they told us to wait there for few minutes which we did. Then one guy told us go upstairs there is a table for you, he never took us there which shows poor customer service and they gave us the menu in my hand downstairs instead of giving us at the table. Upstairs there were a few tables empty so i dont understand why we had to wait for that long? After sitting at the table they put the fan on on our side which was blowing very cold air in this cold weather, i asked the guy can you please turn the fan off he said ok, still not off after few minutes when our order came i asked another member of staff if they could switch the fan off, again same story. I asked them again he said people downstairs are complainting i said turn the fan to face otherside he said ok and they turned it off and turned it on again in next minute. Food quality cheese cake was fine but milk shakes were very low quality, looks like drinking slushy water. Went to pay there was no card machine, Machine was not working, complained about fan and he said ohh there is a problem in a switch i said to him when we came fan was off and they turned it on and turned it off couple of times how did you guys do that then he had no answer because of lying. Had very...
Read moreI always come to Jamjar with my family and on this occasion my daughter who is allergic to nuts started getting a reaction and it seems that as it may have accidentally been contaminated which is not any fault of theirs but these things sadly can happen at a Desert parlour however the Arabic Manager was really kind who quickly ran next door to the Pharmacy to get her some Piriton. I quickly gave her some but seemed her throat was starting to get a little tighter I then had to leave and on my way out asked for the bill as I had all my nieces and nephews with me too however the nice Manager insisted I didn't pay for that and let me keep the medication he brought for her too. I was slightly worried so had to leave but the Manager was really nice and kind to us kids thought he was really sweet in not letting us pay. when we got in the car and my daughter started getting better so we diverted back home instead of the A&E. Once we got home all the kids wrote a card each to Jamjar and even put their own logo header to say a BIG THANKYOU for everything and saving our Zainab from her allergic reaction. Im so grateful for the Manager he really went out of his way and expressed concern for our child and that gratitude of his is amazing! Thankyou again and I will be dropping the card off very soon! See you guys again very soon im still your local customer and this wont stop me from coming back....
