Great place, from the moment you walk in, you see lovely eye catching foods, sweets and may not so healthy to your right, and healthy nuts to your left. Staright ahead you'll see the screen displaying the Kunafeh and just under you'll see the chef's preparing this in fresh in front you.
Great, friendly staff, if this visit was just about service alone then I'd be returning time and time again. But of course I'm 80% about the food ;).
Good points were they take card machine and have seating upstairs, I didn't see the toilets but I assume they have them upstairs in the dining hall (will confirm on my next visit). The store is easy to get into for the wheelchair disabled, however the seating would only be available outdoors, due to stairs inside and no seating on the ground floor internally.
Now on to the food, so, I ordered the cheese Kunafeh (available in 3 sizes, see pictures) and some lovely freshly prepared sweets (see pictures). The Kunafeh was being freshly prepared in a clean environment and open kitchen so you can watch as your food is made. Whilst my chosen items we are being packaged, one of the staff offered me a sample of a couple of items. Sadly my items were already packed and therefore I could not add one of the sweets I tried (glad in a way because as amazing as it tasted, it was soaked in syrup, but on my next visit I will definitely be stocking up on those, forgot what they are called as I was too busy admiring how tasty it was. Similar taste to Jalebi but much better in my opinion).
I did take my order out and the Kunafeh was a tad bit chewy, but that's a given I suppose with cheddar like cheese. But I won't mark it down as I will revisit to try in store and see if that makes a difference. That being said, I personally didn't mind the texture, but for those who aren't big on too much cheese, maybe this dessert is not for you, but definitely worth a try. Alternatively there is the cream cheese Kunafeh, which I did ask for too but it wasn't in the bag on my way out, but I guess that just means more to try on my next visit. I assume this would eliminate the chewy texture that may not be for everyone.
On the way out I did notice the Turkish coffee calling to me, so of course I had to try the Coffee, and I must say...this was a very tasty slightly fragrant coffee, and it was lovely. If you like an espresso, you'll love this! Just pure coffee at its best!
The sweets that I had later that evening screamed freshness throughout and you could tell they have not been sat in the store for days/weeks. The Turkish delight which I'm not too keen on was pleasantly tasteful here, smothered with almonds or pistachios, they were a great snack to have the following day too.
Will be revisiting soon and will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter a highly anticipated wait, me and my partner attended Yafa Knafeh On Coventry Rd, Small Heath, Birmingham on Sunday, 19 February 2023 at approximately the 19:30
We were unfamiliar with the premises, as we had never attended here before, but I had heard great reviews about the Knafeh.
I came into the premises and greeted the gentleman behind the counter, asking him to pack some kanafeh for me and my husband
Whilst looking around, it came to my attention that there was a seating area upstairs,I confirmed this with the gentleman behind the counter. I purchased Turkish tea alongside my Knafeh & took it upstairs as instructed by the gentlemen.
Once we arrived upstairs, I saw that the table was very messy. The previous customer had left all the rubbish, cutlery & food residue on the table. My husband went to get one of the workers to get them to clean the area so we could sit down and enjoy our meal,
My husband asked, can you please come upstairs and clear the table so we can sit down
The gentleman behind the counter responded. We do not clean tables ,is there no way you can sit anywhere else, all the tables had been taken, one of the tables had multiple men sitting on it leaving juz a small gap, the representative of Yafa Knafeh was suggesting for me to squeeze in with my partner with a bunch of random men, even though there was a private booth available & it just needed cleaning
At this point, my husband was really appalled by this gentlemanās attitude & expressed his concerns, they then came & cleaned the table collecting all the previous cutlery, tissues, cups etc⦠but left all the residue of the Knafeh on the table without wiping it clean.
The owners should constantly make sure the standards of the premises are hygienically clean and welcoming for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHi. Iāve seen the replies youāve put here, so Iām really not expecting much back. The kanafeh of course was lovely, itās what I came for and what I brought my friends for. We were 3 women wanting to eat in, me my sister and my friend who travelled here just to try it. When grabbing forks the man at the counter said āeating in?ā as if he was shocked and said can you go upstairs please. We did this willingly with no obligation and accepted to go upstairs and we were, we heard the shouts from the kitchen āitās Ramadanā as if we should not be eating. This made my friend extremely uncomfortable and upset us all because again we went up willingly and understandingly. There was no need to shame us for not fasting because as EVERYONE KNOWS women cannot fast the whole of Ramadan. My friend was very anxious to leave the place and I had to spend 5 minutes coaxing her that it was ok and we exited. Please just be considerate of everyone. I love what you sell and think you have a beautiful business. But this experience has deeply upset us all, I have recommended lots of friends here which is something I donāt feel the...
