We went to Rudy’s last night and were really underwhelmed and unimpressed. The food was absolutely banging but the service was so poor it’s put us off from coming again.
We’ve had a few good takeaways from here so we thought we’d go to eat in.
We were greeted by the front of house who asked if we’d booked, luckily we had, but he then proceeded to spend a very awkward 5 minutes looking at the booking system without saying anything to us. Then when he finally seemed like he found our booking, he started speaking to someone else waiting behind us.
We finally got seated with our menus but were then left ignored for 10-15 minutes- to the point I said to my partner that if we’re not acknowledged in a second, we’d go somewhere else. The waitress finally came over, with no apology for the wait and took our order. I understand it was a Friday night, but the place only looked half full. If the staff said we’ll be with you shortly or acknowledged us, we’d have been happy, but to be left ignored for some time was unacceptable.
We then waited 20 minutes for our food which was great and well worth the wait, but still the service was substandard. The waitress didn’t ask if our food was okay and we had to hunt them down for more drinks.
When we’d finished, we had to wait to try and grab their attention to order dessert. Then whilst we were waiting, we saw the staff dragging recycling rubbish through the main restaurant.
Again, I understand it was a Friday night but the service has put us off from ever coming again. It wasn’t the waiting staff’s fault, they looked like they were rushed off their feet but given the place was half full I was confused as to why. Perhaps they were under staffed and the system didn’t appear to work as they were all off doing random things with no order.
Sadly not impressed and won’t...
Read moreI had never been here before, someone recommended it to me and pizza is my favourite food so I was happy to try Rudy's. Unfortunately, I wasn't greeted as I walked in instead I was just looked at quite strangely as I asked for a table. The chap, slim white guy with short brown curly hair and some facial hair, stared at the computer for ages then walked away from me without saying a word..I wasn't sure if I was to follow him but I did anyway. He then put a menu on a table and once again walked away without speaking. I thought this was quite bizarre. Usually you would be asked if the seat was ok, and told someone would be with you soon etc. I nearly walked out if I'm honest, someone came over and took my order..the person who bought my food, which took less than 10 mins just put my food down on the table and walked away, she didn't ask if there was anything else I wanted or could get me. For a pizzeria, the menu is limited. It seems the staff here have absolutely no customer services skills, staff hardly speak to the customers, it seems an inconvenience to them to have to serve people. When I asked to pay, I wasn't asked if I wanted to pay cash or card, instead the waitress just bought the card machine over without telling me how much it was and held the machine facing away from me. I wasn't asked if I had enjoyed my food. The guy on the front of house really did ruin my mood. The food was very average and came out very quickly, so I don't know how fresh it is. I won't be going back here, I hope you intend to either change your staff or train the ones you have in a basic level of customer services. I honestly wanted to walk out without paying. The food is much better at pizza express just up the road and the staff are lovely, I'll...

I'd heard so many good things about their authentic Neapolitan pizzas, and I'm thrilled to say it more than lived up to the hype. From the moment I stepped in, the atmosphere was buzzing. It's got that wonderful, relaxed, yet vibrant feel – exactly what you want from a neighbourhood pizzeria. The exposed brickwork and the open kitchen where you can see the magic happening really add to the charm. Despite being busy, the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, getting us seated quickly and bringing over menus with a friendly smile. Now, onto the main event: the pizza! The anticipation built as we watched the pizzas emerge from the beautiful, fiery oven. And oh my goodness, they were perfect. The dough is truly something else – so light, airy, and with that beautiful, slightly charred 'leopard print' crust that tells you it's been cooked just right. The toppings were fresh, high-quality, and incredibly flavourful, with the San Marzano tomatoes and fior di latte cheese singing on their own. It genuinely felt like a little taste of Italy right here in Harborne. We even managed to squeeze in a refreshing Aperol Spritz and shared some and some Nocellara olives beforehand, which were the perfect accompaniment. Rudy's in Harborne isn't just about great pizza; it's about the whole experience. It's affordable, the service is excellent, and the food is simply divine. If you're looking for proper, authentic Neapolitan pizza in a fantastic setting, then look no further. I'm already planning...
