Chiquito — Restaurant in Blaby

I recently dined at Chiquito Restaurant and I would like to provide feedback on my experience. I must express my disappointment with the fajitas that I ordered, as they did not meet my expectations in terms of taste and quality. The chicken served was simply reheated and had an unpleasant, bitter flavor due to being completely burned.

It appeared that the restaurant had prepared a large quantity of grilled chicken in the morning, and throughout the day, they reheated the burned portions to cut costs. This approach, unfortunately, resulted in a noticeable decline in the freshness and overall quality of the food. As a result, I am left with a sense of complete dissatisfaction, especially considering that the food was not freshly prepared.

It is disheartening to have such an experience, particularly because I used to hold a great appreciation for the food served at Chiquito Restaurant. However, my recent encounters have significantly diminished my previous enthusiasm.

When I voiced my concerns about the food, the staff offered to replace the chicken with a fresh serving. Regrettably, the new portion arrived in the same burned and unappetizing state. It seemed that the issue stemmed from a dirty grill grate coupled with the use of old, reheated chicken. I politely declined to finish the dish, thanking the staff for their attempt to resolve the situation.

To their credit, the manager approached me and extended a sincere apology for the inconvenience caused. I appreciate the manager's kind gesture and willingness to address the matter.

A review coming from someone who never complains but I just HAD to express how shocking we feel.

Myself and 11 family members were so excited to come to Chiquitos in Meridian Leicester for my partners birthday … what a disaster it turned out to be!

They sat us down 15 minutes late for our pre-booked table (fair enough, it’s hard to boot people out) but they forgot the balloons we asked for so had to wait a few minutes for them to untangle them and put them on the table - leaving us all stranded in the middle of a busy restaurant, blocking the walk way. Off to a great start!

It took 45 minutes for our drinks to arrive and 1hr 20 minutes for our food to arrive. No apologies for the wait for anything either. Horrendous customer service.

Lastly, I had bought an expensive cake for us all to enjoy - only to be summoned by the waiter (which ruined the surprise). I had to go into the kitchen and see the mess) - this was the first time I saw the cake too. Broken figurine on the top which cost me £15 - covered in superglue :( (thanks for trying to fix it) It must have been dropped by accident as I have photographic evidence from my cake maker of it in one piece. The cake also had a number of finger marks on it.

It was just a shambles from start to finish. I couldn’t help but cry as I wanted to make it perfect. They did however knock a % off the bill after we complained to them.

We have just left feeling so deflated. We will never...

update: 1⭐️ this time...

After having my second son I was craving for this place so we bought a groupon and went there for lunch... first we have a pushchair and so we asked the staff for another table as we don’t want to be blocking people... so he gave us another table near the toilet which also blocking the people 🤷🏻‍♂️

Anyway, Ordered 2 starters and 2 mains... And... what a disappointment... we ordered medium rare for the steak and it came medium well to well, no taste and no seasoning on the steak. All the veg around was seasoned well but onion was super raw, I like it raw but too raw for my 3 year old, he kept saying “it’s hot” the raw onion was burning his mouth, bless him.

The chicken wings was worse, super dry and burnt but no taste...

Finally with the bill, we gave him the groupon code and the bill was wrong, he charged us £26.xx instead of £3.99. I can see he is new so is not really his fault with lack of training.

After this visit I believe I will have no more craving for sure.

The steak we ordered medium rare and it came medium, better than I expect as most places will give us medium well to well...

The prawn ones was a little disappointed...

Anyway the fajita comes with different sauces and we can refill if we wanted to...
